Five reasons why Arsenal fans hate Chelsea

We hate Chelsea. Perhaps not as much we hate United or Tottenham, but we reserve a different kind of hate for Chelsea, a special kind of hate. We hate how they play, we hate their manager and their owner, and we hate that annoying cheering lot they call fans.

Ahead of tomorrow’s match, we here at Arsenal-Mania decided we would aim a few shots in the direction of Chelsea to stoke the flame a little. Our fellow gooners will feel exactly where we are coming from with this piece and hopefully it fires them up for the match as much it did us. I could write a book about how much we dislike Chelsea, in fact about how much everyone dislikes Chelsea, but for our purposes I’ll stick to just five reasons.

Money bags

Where would they be without this man? There is something about teams who buy their way to success that unnerves most football fans. You want to see teams build from the ground up and move through the ranks, not buy the ranks themselves. How we’d all love to tell Mr. Abramovich exactly where he can stuff that money.
The “thinks he is more special than he is” one

Or the “not so special one,” whichever you prefer. We hate him so much, he could have a feature of his own, but I’ll keep it short for this one. We hate this narcissistic, hypocritical, class-less, arrogant manager of theirs. We hate his mind games, we hate his smug little smile and sly little digs at our manager, and we hate what he stands for. The man just winds us up to no avail.
“18th century football”

If I can resort to school yard name calling tactics for a second, Chelsea are a bunch of bus parkers. Nothing worse than a team scared to face their opposition and would rather pack ten mind behind the ball. These lot have no style or grace whatsoever, happy to scrape through and nick a goal off the counter. Perhaps it would be acceptable if Mourinho didn’t have the nerve to accuse other sides of playing “18 century football” should they dare to park the bus against Chelsea. A bit hypocritical considering it was in fact Mourinho who coined the phrase “park the bus.” Oh the irony.
Fans…And I use that term loosely

Annoying lot aren’t they? Smug bunch of brats if have ever seen some. How quickly they forget that their side was obscure and irrelevant until their billionaire owner came around, and how they would be nothing at all without an exorbitant amount to spend every year. Silent for so many years they were, until they won a bit of silverware, now we cannot get them keep quite.

History?

This about ties in everything in one. They had very little success until Abramovich and Mourinho came into town, but let their fans tell it, they are and always were football giants. Arsenal have the Invincibles of 03/04, and the famous “1 nil to the Arsenal,” side under George Graham in the 90’s just to name a few from our illustrious past, and Chelsea have… I’ll wait. Chelsea’s history starts in 2003, a mere 12 years. Some “history” that is.
