Rumours going around that we are interested in this guy. 21 year old midfielder. His father claims we are the only team he'd join.

We've scouted Lyon, whether it's for Lacazette, Fakir or Gonalons only our insiders know.

He certainly looks like one of the most talented 21yos in Europe, where he'd play here is another matter.

What do we make of Gonalons? He seemed to be the future of that French midfield but it really hasn't happened for him. As for Fekir he reminds me of Nasri when he came to us but with loads more end product, 2nd in Ligue 1 for assists right now I think.

Said recently he'll only leave for us if he'll be given a starting role because he doesn't want to stunt his own development. Seems a smart lad, more than Samir anyway.

League is very weak
Matt Spiro says we're looking at Abdenour and Fekir.

Adbdenour is the Monaco CB - who some French journo described as decent but makes mistakes.

What's the deal with Fekir? What type is he, where will he play?

He plays as number 10 or second striker for Lyon. For us he can probably play any position behind the striker.

He's an attacking midfielder/forward. Either plays behind Lacazette, next to him or wide of him. He's not tall (5'8) but he's very strong, clever and a good dribbler. He's very handy in front of goal too. He's kinda like Hazard (not as good obviously but consensus maybe that he could be). Seems like he can play upfront though, but tends to play in one of the attacking midfield positions.

Spiro reckons Wenger "really likes" him, which makes sense considering Grimandi's rumored to have scouted him over 20 times this season. He's definitely a Wenger-type of player.

Fakir is attacking midfielder he is having great season like Lacazette. do we need another attacking midfielder we already have tow quality attacking mids in Cazorla and Özil. can Fakir play on the wings?

he is an Arsenal fan by the way ;)

He's looked quality whenever I've seen him. Seems a proper Wenger type as well; can play across the front 3 seamlessly from what I've seen.

Reminds me of Nasri, but with balls.

Was really high on him a while back when people were wondering who we've been scouting at Lyon.

The Hazard comparisons are about right in terms of style of play to a degree but the kid is built more like Aguero in terms of body shape/size. VERY good on the ball and never seems scared or hesitant. Would definitely take him here. Unfortunately that would mean letting one of Diaby, Theo or Rozza go. Maybe all 3

Please be true, Alexis on 1 wing and Fekir on the other would dice open teams.

Would signing Adbdenour or another CB mean the end of Mertesacker or Chambers becoming a DM? How good is he?

Sounds a right little Fekir, looks a great talent but seen him compared to Nasri earlier in the season which put me off him.

It should be noted Fekir/Fekir's dad said he'd only move to Arsenal. For whatever that's worth in modern football.

Would be a good little replacement for Rozza, might take him a season to adjust but by that time we could have Santi's long term successor ready to go.

Be nice to get both him and Lacazette this summer. Unlikely though.

I think he'll stick around at Lyon for another year at least.

Because he would play, according to the father. Sounds dodgy, similar to Nasri who spoke about us being a stepping stone when he signed.

Or because of Wenger's reputation with young players. He mentioned Wenger specifically.

And look; if you offer those guys a competitive environment where they can win and excel plus the financial compensation they won't leave.

You'll always be a stepping stone until you consistently challenge for the league tbf. Even Man Utd was a stepping stone for Ronaldo.
