Chelsea, struggling at the mo. Looks like they're finally winding down their spend as well, sitting just below the Mancs clubs now.

Of course this is what happens if you don't have a sound business model like Arsenal and rely on handouts from the Russian mafia. The rich get tired of their toys.

Just hope they don't come calling for Wenger, trophies on a budget specialist. ;)

They are winding down their spending but that is not really the root of their problems at the moment. It looks like the manager is losing the dressing room, and is at loggerheads with the board. Chelsea players texting steve holland complaining of double training sessions, steve holland the first team coach was a bridge from conte to the team, they liked him but he left his role for England. Conte lifted the team last season after mourinho lost the dressing room, and another manager may do so if they sack conte.

Though they were unlucky with the decisions last night against watford (it was a never a 2nd yellow and a dive for the penalty), the body langauge of the team was poor, players looked short of confidence, and there was a lack of interest and effort, they looked like a bunch of players waiting for their manager to be sacked.

Sure conte is complaining to the board about wanting to spend more (and he also lost technical director michael emenalo to monaco, who was also a bridge for conte to the board) but most of this team won the league last season and almost did the double, it's not all doom and gloom and he should be doing better with what he's got. They made solid, if unspectacular signings (bar bakayoko who is too raw for a big club atm), and they should be closer to city than Man U imo, they shouldn't have dropped off to this degree.

Likewise Wenger, who is behind Sp**s and Pool for the second season in a row (and likely to finish the season that way too), when our revenue is higher than both, (although they are catching up), and should be doing better with what he's got.

Interesting post about Chelsea.

But don't forget Pool have spent a lot more than us, since Wenger came and their squad is currently more expensive.

Sp**s are just lucky that they have Kane. When he goes soon they'll revert to the norm.

I genuinely think it's more Wenger trying to keep transfer fees low. We can spend more than Liverpool, but we seem to spend more on wages while they usually do it on transfer fees.

Gazidis has said in the recent past (before the neymar deal inflated everything even further) that we can get anyone apart from Messi and Ronaldo, it's only if Wenger wants to spend. It seems like he genuinely wants to push the boat out to me.

Sp**s' real star is Pochettino. Kane is massive for them but they've also done fine when he's been injured for spells; son scored 21 goals last year and plays at CF while kane is out, plus with son, alli, eriksen, dembele, lamela, moura and more they have plenty of good players. But if poch goes, managers are always a lottery.

Likewise when Wenger leaves, it's a lottery. But I and a lot of fans are at the point where we'd like to see some new tactics and styles of play, not change for the sake of things but a hopefully shrewd appointment with the goal of taking the team towards the next step.

Sp**s haven't been trying to win the league for decades. They were trying to not get relegated in the 90s and 2000s. They've only had decent teams since 2010

It shouldn't be in any thread.

Did you know at the advent of the premier league , Sp**s were the richest club revenue wise in the league ?:lol:. Amazing but true .

They finished 8th, 15th, 7th, 8th, 10th, 14th in the first six years of the PL being nothing more than bang average mid table. Funny though, their fans back then used to brag about how they played exciting attacking football. They used to look down on "boring, boring Arsenal" even as we won trophies and they didn't. They said they were not willing to trade their attacking football for more success. Whined about us and United. Small time club is Sp**s. Hopefully our fans stop sounding like 90s Sp**s fans :)

Amazing though could have been all so different for them .

Terrible hot takes
I don't agree on that. He is nervy defensively like Mustafi.

Attacking wise useless totally, doesn't pick a player ever. Wasting chanced.

Sagna was 10x the player than Bellerin. Pace doesn't mean everything.

We need competition at RB for sure.

You are crazy

Bellerin has a huge impact on every game by the sheer presense of his pace

What I don't understand about the Bellerin hate is the complete lack of long-term foresight.

Do we not want to invest in players?

Bellerin is clearly a young player with WC potential. He is far from that now, but will be there.

If we have "ambition" (I ****ing hate that bullshit throw away word) then we play him through ups and downs and reap the benefits down the road. He is our best RB right now, and imo our best RWB. So play him.

If our fans set the XI we'd never trot out the same team from one game to the next....we'd bench the lot.

Other than Salah and van Dijk who would you take from pool. Squad cost, the mother of all deceivers

I would also take Clyne and Mane from pool but overall we have a better squad. They're ahead of us because Klopp is making the most of what he has and is outperforming Wenger, in the league at least.

Nah, the top 6 teams by squad cost are in the top 6 places yet again. Swap us and Sp**s and they're in the right order too. Just Kane putting the order out.

You'll always get some anomalies but that's how probability works bro. It's the only way to understand modern football. All else is b*llocks and useless words.;)

So a team of messi, ronaldo and neymar with league one midfielders and goalkeeper has a high probability to win the league and champions league? Sounds legit.
