Only reason we got a draw yesterday was because of Xhaka's set-piece taking, which has certainly gone up a notch this season. He gave away a penalty but he played out of position and we were under immense pressure, Mustafi's penalty was far worse considering it came at the final minute of the first half, after the corner kick we had to defend like our lives depended on it.

Not to mention our D was thrown under the bus by Lacazette's brain fade.

He wasn't bad yesterday. Don't blame him for the pen either, few players would come off better after being isolated - in the box no less - against one of the best 1v1 players in the premier league, especially one so adept at anticipating (and simulating) contact

Granits no LB, but he's a fooking captain giving 100% foe his team and doing a job.
.
For me, that is the key, why the guy should never receive personal critics - he is giving his maximum all the time. 10/10 attitude. Anything else is player recruitment, lineup selection and tactics.

Xhaka has his flaws for sure. I was screaming at the TV when he played that stupid unnecessary sideways pass against Fulham. I knew it would lead to a goal, I could feel it coming. Also not the most mobile. But he whips in corners that are actually dangerous, he takes a mean free kick and can play some brilliant long balls. He kind of reminds me of someone who made a great career out of those very qualities...

He did well but I do think we suffered in attack on the left side as a result of him playing full back. He was very conservative when going forward which you can understand but I definitely wouldn't want to see him at left back regularly.

He started this season slowly and has got better and is showing some of his better qualities. He still has his moments but he looks like a part of the team and not the mistake man in the middle. Well done him.

Mods are unethical! Özil, come assist me please!
He is only a Central Midfielder. Not quick enough to to play on the win or fullback positions.
Atleast Emery knows know to squash that. Can you imagine what Salah and Mane would do?

Need Monreal/Kola or even Ainsley fit for left back. Get Xhaka back to central midfield next to Torreria.

Atleast we have learned that he will be the primary set piece taker.
Thank God - we have been crying out for a dead ball specialist for a very very long time.

Don't think we've all taken the time to appreciate this strike. Just close your eyes and listen to the contact with the ball. It literally sounds like a cannon going off. Unreal hit.

That was a beautifully taken free kick. Sometimes we get so caught up picking apart what goes wrong in a game that we forget the enjoyable moments.
That got me off my chair screaming at the tv. Beautiful Xhaka.
Even aside from that goal, I see him growing in confidence and getting progressively more solid.
Zaha dive aside (he shouldn't have dangled that leg), he did really well in that game imo.

Unfortunately I only see this guy as a stop-gap in the centre of midfield. His performances have been enhanced with the introduction of Terriera but he is too slow to not only move, but make decisions in dangerous areas. He always has a mistake in him (much like Mustafi) and he is simply not suited to the league. He'd be great in Seria A but not for Arsenal in a rapid league. Nothing but a squad option for me but some may see more in him.

Unreal goal and then stuffs it up with a silly challenge. Giving away two penalties in a game is criminal, come on Arsenal.
Was great otherwise but how often are we going to pay for his brainfart moments.

If he had not given away that penalty and let zaha get a free walk in the box. He would still get ridiculed. He made the challenge, poorly timed but better if he did than ddnt.

When there's literally 7 pages of nothing but spam threads, it's very easy to accidentally select ones you don't want gone. The Emery thread got deleted too, there's no conspiracy here.
Spam threads? Did I miss that?

Also my take is that he had to try to tackle Zaha, better defenders have tried that and failed so I can’t blame him.

Anyone claiming Granit was not at fault for the penalty or that it was a harsh call needs to check the still below. Naive challenge from an experienced international player in our box when we're in the lead. Would rather Zaha score from open play than give it away like this. I'm sorry but this IS NOT a top player.
