Doesn’t Rate Any Of Our Attackers

Maybe spending money on terrific players who can help get Arsenal back on top is more important than some arbitrary age cutoff endorsed by fans with a youth fetish.

You could have said the exact same thing about Auba, Özil and Mkhi. Only one of those signings has worked out. It's pretty bloody obvious that our attack is old and expensive, which from a squad building point of view is problematic. We need young players, not cos of some fetish, but because the more we have the more we can sell to leverage funds and grow the squad. That's how it works. We're not Utd, we evidently can't afford to just splurge money without thinking long-term.

Nothing against Perisic, he'd be great. But it makes no sense for a club in our situation.

How reliable is Corriere Della Sera? This would be unreal news if true. He would honestly be the perfect fit for us.

It's one of the oldest and largest newspapers in Italy and is published in Milan, so you would think it was at least somewhat in the loop.

The fact that Mkhitaryan was the only one of those three who was 29 (and he by just a single day) when Arsenal signed them aside, how can you diminish what Özil has done for the club since he joined (at age 24, by the way)? I'm not sure it's accurate to say that even Micki "hasn't worked out." He's been inconsistent, but also productive (7 goals and 8 assists in 34 games in the Premier League and Europa League). And he's certainly been better than the guy he was swapped for has been at United. But none of that has anything to do with Perisic, who is Perisic and not Aubameyang, Özil or Mkhitaryan.

And actually it makes perfect sense for Arsenal in their current situation. I can't think of anything that makes more sense. They need to get back into the Champions League in order to regain the financial muscle they've lost from dropping to Europa League the past two seasons. A finished product and world class player such as Perisic could go a long way toward that. If all they do is sign young prospects to develop them it will be years before they are ready to get back into the Champions League and they run the risk of becoming a mid-table club. You have to think about the present as well as the future. If you get about 3 1/2 years of Perisic, you can develop your young players behind a world class one that helps you win now.

A swap with Özil would be a no brainer though. Younger, more hardworking and more suited to our style, and most importantly can take on a man by himself. Could play behind the two strikers in a diamond too. I'd save the funds and go all out for Zaha in the summer though. Feck it, let's get em both!

Sad state when we excited about being linked with Ivan Perisic.
Really? I would be delighted if we pulled this off. Can't see why fans wouldn't be. It's a great player in here and now and then we buy him in the summerfor a fee he would probably fetch in An open market anyway. What's sad about that? There doesn't seem to be a way to win with some people on here. Young talent that isn't already top class is classed as underwhelming and anyone over 29 is classed as past it. Get it done, look for a cb we can loan is what I say.
