Let us also not forget Wenger's questionable European record. Two finals in all that time, really fluffed the Galatasary one. And the rest of the time struggled to get past last 16, let alone quarters and semis.
The only British team ever to qualify for the Champions League 19 years running, 1RU, 1SF, 4QF with 9 of those years spending bottom half of the table. In that time Sp**s qualified 3 times.
Hardly questionable when you consider which clubs have spent the money over those years as well. Watch this.

Lets's get one thing straight for the record.

If Emery gets 4th place or wins the EL, it will be in spite of Wengers crap management that saw us drop out of the top four. Make no mistake.

That wont sit well with those who refuse to acknowledge that Wenger undone god knows how many years of good work in the last two of his tenure, because that means Emery has a license to do as he wishes for at least a couple of seasons without blame, which must be like having a smelly sock stuffed in your mouths.

Nah. Things in life just aren't that simple. It's not black and white. I don't disagree with what you're saying buts just a basic and incomplete assessment of the situation.

Emery both benefits from and has to contend with the good and bad parts of Wenger's reign respectively.

Looking back, we were never going to Win this game.

Our lineup was quite similar to what we had against Watford a week earlyer and we should've lost this game if it weren't for Deeneys (undeserved) red card (should've been yellow).

Our biggest weakness and the common point in both those games was having Elneny and Guendouzi in the midfield. Regardless of how poor our defense was. Midfield is where we lost tactical and psychological control of the game.

Changing the set up in second half, did us some good and we all know how much Mustfai f*cked us. But the truth is we are lost without Xhaka these days. And he was the key to balance our midfield. No other player has this kind of impact in that area of the pitch at the moment.

If you look at it from the perspective of "impact on the team," instead of in terms of pure skill, this season Xhaka has been the best midfielder in the PL not playing for City.

Can people not turn every bloody thread into Wenger v Emery? It isn't Wenger v Emery, it never was. It's Kronke v Arsenal.
Like a breath of fresh air when someone posts something sensible.

Well done bro.

Hi there. Is your striker firing blanks all season? Is your goalkeeper making blunders left, right and centre? Is your team on a losing streak? Well, how about you try.... PLAYING ARSENAL! All of a sudden your striker will remember where he left his shooting boots! Your goalkeeper will be playing like a prime Oliver Kahn! Your team will get an unlikely victory after a run of 8 straight games without victory! Charity FC.

Think you’re right. He’s not perfect but without Xhaka we struggle.

Spending 5th in the league is almost the worst position. We can afford some class players, so expectations amongst the fans is high, compared to lower clubs. But there will be some holes in the squad and the back up players will not be good enough for top 4 without very clever buying, which isn’t easy.

Obsessed With Guendouzi
if you play doozi, you cede the midfield...its been the case throughout the season. Cant play him in a crunch match. Trying to develop him has cost us this season. I think everyone saw the team sheet, and prepared themselves for the worst.

Don't see how a forearm smashed knowingly into an opponent's face can be seen as a yellow.

I was referring to the latter stages of the competition, not the qualifying part. And certainly until the last few years our squad was good enough to be progressing further than it did. Wenger used to be a shrewd dealer, particularly in the Dein era, so squad cost wasn't as much of an issue.

6 QF+ in 19 years is not that good. So every 3 years we got slightly further than usual. If we want to win the competition one day, we need to be more consistent. We may not have the budget of Juventus, Real, Barca or Bayern, but we have to find ways to compete with them if we want to win it.

And that starts with making the most of limited resources. We used to do that, but Wenger's eye for talent clearly diminished over time. Too much power, zero accountability.

And now with even Mislintat gone I have no clue if anyone at the club has a real eye for talent.

No idea who our targets could be this summer.

 I’d forgotten just how many people had bought that story, hook line and sinker.

This is actually a bit knee jerk considering Palace's away form. Go look at their away form. They've had some top results on the road including a 2-3 win at the Etihad in December.
We were garbage, make no mistake, but Palace capitalised well and they actually played a good game.

Oh come on, this is another one of those infuriatingly dishonest posts. It’s not about what he spent in relation to other teams, it’s about the quality of the teams—to his huge credit— that he still managed put out. He underachieved in Europe, it’s as simple as that. In fact, with the quality of side that he managed to produce over the years, he underachieved everywhere. Did brilliantly to get the first part right in finding the players and putting teams together, but he failed to capitalise more often than not and with sides that were more than good enough to win.
