Of course we need a centre midfielder. Our central midfield is terrible. Xhaka is slow and has no positional awareness. The others are young players who are still learning their trade.

Callum Chambers is not good enough for Arsenal.

We need a CB a LB is much more urgent than a right back a CM and a wide player.

Left back is shocking for us. We need a commanding centre back who makes them around him calmer and better organised. We need a wide player to beat a man and make full backs afraid to push too far forward and we need a central midfielder who has both abit of creativity as well and someone who will put themselves about and understand their position when to go and when to stay.

We have 2 of 3 best LBs innthe league in Nacho and Kola.

Xhaka has had a good season, as has Torreira and Gunedouzi whilst being inconsistent has surpassed everyones expectations for a young player. Chambers just got his teams player of the season.

I agree with you needing a wide man to have the ability to beat people and I would also like somone to partner Sokratis at CB.

We did attract some high profile players in recent years like Sanchez, Auba and Özil. Chelsea, Sp**s and Liverpool didn't get any big names except van dijk.

Özil nobody else was in for him, Sanchez options were us and Liverpool when Liverpool were crap and we hadn't any competition for Auba. None of these players were wanting by a long list of suitors before us.

Sorry mate you must be a troll after that first sentence. You think we have 2 of the best left backs in the league.

Robertson? Rose? Chillwell? Young cub Zinchenko at city is a good one. Going by the other night Emerson is better than what we have. Id argue Ryan Bertrand would perform better for us than the 2 we have. Jonny of Wolves has been brilliant. Lucas Digne as well.

They aren't even in the best 10.

Ramsey and Bellerin are **** but Kolasinac is one of the best LBs in the league?

Its about money and availability nobody can buy big players at big clubs if they not available man city can't go barca and ask they want to buy Messi because he not available and don't want to leave. And of course there clubs are richer than us that's something we can't do nothing about it.

Can't argue against that, but you still didn't provide any evidence where Sp**s, Liverpool and Chelsea bought players that we really wanted.

There's 100 players available that we could rhyme of that would improve us. They are available. Problem is we won't pay the money. We could make 3 signings from Leicester who would improve us. But how much would they cost? 150m. 3 players form Leicester 150m. We won't spend that so therefore we will never kick on. We have fallen so far down and the supposedly visionaries we had running the club couldn't see the way football was moving. 2-3 years ago we needed a centre half and a defensive central midfielder.

We bought Mustafi and xhaka in desperation because we couldn't scout properly while other teams were scouting and taking chances on potential.

Well that all up to our scouting and management wenger and ivan got it all wrong that's why we are in mess and with the most unbalanced squad. But I got faith on edu Raul and emery to fix this last season summer we made good addition between youth and experience I believe we'll do the same this year but first we got to sell alot of players

They may not have bought a particular player that we wanted but they have been a lot smarter with their buys.

Anyone linked with Chelsea is and was always out of our league money wise since abramovich.

Sp**s is the anomaly as they have been so good buying cheaper players but they operated.

Liverpool took chances on premier league proven players who had potential to make the step up like Mane, Henderson, Robertson.

We were miles ahead of those teams 10 years ago and now we are miles behind. And that gap will only get bigger as football is moving in such a direction that if you aren't selling players for high amounts you won't be buying them.

The problem is we need to replace the current players with better ones. Which costs too much money.

Let's think and il be conservative with my replacements.

Mustafi 20m - Lewis Dunk 30m.
Kolasinac 15m - Chillwell 40m
Özil it will cost us 20m to give him away- Ziyech 25m
Miki 5m - Sarr of rennes 30m.

So for every one player we sell we still have to pay a significant amount to replace them.

Chelsea will get around 100m for hazard. That's 2 players.

Liverpool got 120m for Countinho which bought VVD and Allison.

Everton got 50M for stones and 75m for Lukaku.

We got 35m for Marc Overmars nearly 20 years ago and we have had significantly better players than him over the last 15-20 years. But where's the money??

We are a terribly run football club with no idea on modern football and we are a weak club were teams know they can bully us. The good players we have also are so quick to leave they have no loyalty to make sure we get a good fee they just say I want to go here and let's go.

Majority of people had him in our top 5 players of the season thread , rightly so.

That means absolutely nothing when comparing him with the rest of our competitors. Sokratis was generally solid for us but wouldn't make the top top cb in the league

You're mad if you think Brighton & Leicester value Dunk & Chilwell respectively at only 30m & 70m. Dunk will go for at least 40 as he's one of the reasons they're still a premier league team, Duffy being the other. Chilwell, he's an England international, extremely young & a first team player, we're looking at a minimum asking price of 70.

And no clubs with competent people at the helm are paying 20m for Mustafi or paying any fee for Özil in addition to his undeserved 350k a week pension plan.

Tell me who's gonna be able to afford Chillwell at 70m. I'm not disputing the price as I said I was being conservative with my player choices and prices to show even if we get semi normal players at ok rates we still have to pay out huge amounts.

But if Chillwell is going to cost 70m who can afford to pay that? Under financial fair play clubs can't go trigger happy because of a rich owner.

And also one more thing. If a club the size of Arsenal cannot buy the best players from lower down the league then there's a serious problem with English football.

Dortmund don't have a wealthy owner but can buy players from Schalke. Atletico can sign players from the likes of Betis or other clubs down the table.

Are we saying that as a club we cannot sign anyone who is considered half decent in the premier league without having to pay 40m for them? I don't understand football in the slightest Any more.

It's become a joke. We also seem to be the only club to sign players, them play regularly and they drop about 50% in value.

Liverpool signed Danny Ings he did nothing for a couple of seasons and sold him for like 20m. How?

Maybe we should just go and spend the 50m we have on 5 champions players under the age of 21-22 and get them to play 10-15 half decent games and one or two of them may end up being worth 50m. Seems you only have to have half a dozen good games and be English to be with 50m.

It's simple, we've been & continue to be run by a bunch of incompetent leeches without a clue how to run a football club.

We used to be the best run football club in the United Kingdom, dare I even say, the entire planet.

I've been unrepentant in saying it & will continue saying it to my dying day, the club was heading towards a nosedive the day David Dein was harried out of the club. Those who go on to say "But he's the one who brought Kroenke in" he did, but did he force the hands of those he chased Kroenke's lucre? No. They made it of their own freewill.

Nothing wrong with English football, its good that they tv money is being spread around to make it more of a level playing field so to speak.

What we should do is stop with the elitist mentality (which is a ridiculous notion as we haven't been an elite club for over a decade now) & search the lower leagues for the Maddisons & Chilwells before we get priced out of them.

Buying them after they've made their league & internal bows is counterproductive to the financially astute way we want to be doing business for the foreseeable future.

Yeah most of my previous post have been saying the same that we aren't a big club in terms of titles ambition etc.

We have a wonderful stadium but the atmosphere is nothing like Liverpool or Newcastle.

As you say identifying youth is the way to go. we are better just focusing on being specialists at finding players at 17-21 for 5-10m and turning them into top talents or decent talents and selling them for treble the money.

Said it in another post time to just take losses on those players who aren't good enough and suck the losses up. Get the older, crap, non hungry players out of the club and start from scratch.

The frustrating thing is that it's the only option left to us by design not by choice.

I've been a gooner for over 26 years & this is the only club that has my heart but I know we're in for a very difficult couple of decades before we win anything of note.

Of course the naysayers will tell you that this is not the case, a few smart additions and so on and we'll be challenging again. The club needs to plan for it's long term outlook not now but after having unburdened ourselves of our decrepit owner. Planning for anything whilst he's still at the helm is unwise.

We could have got the likes of Maddison and Maguire but in recent years we’ve tried to be too smart rather than going for the obvious option. I remember Keown raving about Maguire when he was at Hull and Keown stating that Arsenal had doubts over Maguire not being mobile enough. Same thing with VVD.

Dortmund’s model is totally different to ours. They look at the players that are attainable and move in quick to secure them before the competition even get involved. They done that recently by signing two better players (Thorgan Hazard & Julian Brandt) to replace Pulisic at bargain prices. Once they sell Jadon Sancho for a ridiculous fee, they’ll know how to reinvest to strengthen their squad similar to when they sold Dembele.

In terms of Arsenal, I feel both Van De Beek & Ziyech would be willing to leave but I think we’ll be too slow to move in. Once the inevitable happens and Ajax sell De Ligt, they won’t need to cash in on either of them. The whole situation reminds me of the Thomas Lemar one at AS Monaco.

Blackburn won the league by investing. They won it once and never got close again.

Leicester won the like by miracle which unfortunately only happens maybe once in a life time. And after winning it they straight away reverted back to being a normal premier league club at the level they were at before.

Monaco/Greece etc anyone team can win one competition. Wigan won the Fa cup.

Tell me a team who was a Leicester or a Blackburn who turned things around so much that they ended up being a top competitive team? A winning team? You probably can't.

We aren't talking about winning the league once by fluke and then another 30 years of mediocrity.

We are talking here about how for the long term we can build a team that will challenge. Or how we can produce a model that may work in some capacity.

Because if we carry on buying average players from average teams for average amounts of money we will be average. It's logic.

What I don't understand is in the past we were willing to take a chance on players. Henry who had tough time at Juventus and far from a polished player. Freddie, Kolo, Lauren, Vieira. We were happy to take a punt on them.

Yet so many times we have had the opportunities to sign players and gave the chance up. I know it's easy to look back in hindsight but how much of a gamble was Van Dijk at 11m? If we signed him and he was crap we would have still got maybe 5-6m for him.

However the club was happy to spend 35m on Mustafi who arguably showed less promise than Van Dijk who had been in England before and failed to impress. Same with Mbappe didn't want to pay whatever the amount was 7m to the family or agent or whatever. Yet happy to spend 12m on a Theo Walcott all them years ago.

I often wonder who is the logical one at Arsenal. There seems no common sense at all.
