Beat me to it. It was ridiculous. The discourse has quickly changed since though, wonder why.
Yeah, find it pretty ironic people complaining about comparisons to Wenger as being unfair (and they are, or at least they are premature) when there was no hesitation to do so when it made Emery look good (or, more accurate to the intent of the comparisons, made Wenger look bad).

Wenger and Emery are the same caliber of manager. One just happened to arrive when English football was mediocre beyond United while the other arrived with PL at its best with 6 top clubs with the best managers and most resources.

Emery completely united the sour & broken Arsenal fan base that Arsène/Ivan left us by coming in and going 22 games unbeaten, who cares if the fans sang we've got our Arsenal back, it felt good at the time.

Sh*t end to the season, however.

Remember when Emery had that good run at the start of the season? No mention of Wenger. Just Emery and his “brilliant management” of these players.
I don’t think anyone ever said we were doing amazing at any stage.. even during that unbeaten run there were clear weaknesses in our side.

Also, if he had actually been ‘brilliant’ he would owe next to nothing to Wenger for that. Last season we were poor so an improvement would have been all emery considering this isn’t his squad.. it’s the same reason why he deserves another season to prove himself

The 2015 summer looks more and more like that was the start of Gazidis meddling.

Wenger was seeing all these stat dna monsters getting put to him and decided to risk his life by signing just Cech, to save us all.

Sadly, the power above tortured him the following summers and got their way.
