League is very weak
Slowly it’s dawning on our fans that we’re not Barcelona and never have been with Kroenke in charge. It was always Wenger making us look a lot better than we should have been.

Feel sorry for Emery though, he’s not going to get much time and little money to improve the squad. We’ve got to be very lucky to get into the top 4 again.

‘Step up to managerial merry-go-round.’
Agree, Wenger was over achieving. Agree on Emery too, has a hard job, but he knew this before he took it.

Big difference though, top 4 will be celebrated by fans and Emery will be lauded today. Under Wenger this wasn’t good enough.

Beautiful. Shakespeare himself couldn’t have expressed that sentiment more eloquently.

But in a sense it’s a Wenger compliment. People expected him to challenge for the league even with Kroenke in charge. Top 4 though would indeed be very good for Emery.

Yeah starting to accept that top4 is the best we can hope for. No matter what manager. Unless it freeze in hell and we can do a Leicester.

That is why I'm done being harsh on Emery! Not his fault. Although I don't think he is good manager for a top club!

Larger problem has always been Kroenke. No vision for the club with lack of ambition, the man is going to run this great club into the ground. In an alternate world, we would get a sheikh to own us with Wenger being the DoF and Vieira running the reins.

i dont think so, we always were playing catchup...twelve years ago we couldnt hold on to Henry.

I'm aware of that but just feels we are scratching around Europe giving low under value offers again.
Perhaps. We never have a huge kitty to spend though so bargaining is to be expected. We've had links to Zaha and Tierney. Hardly scratching around. These are fairly well rated players. One on potential and one on consistent PL performances... I think we'd be doing good business if we land both. Of course it is early days though.

That’s happening right now in one of the infinite multiverses. I hear we won the league and the Intergalactic cup this year with that dream team.

For sure, we’re tier 2 and pick up the leavings from the big clubs. But we should be able to outbid most of the teams below the top 6.

The Cech decision was the deal-breaker for me. If you don't have the balls to bin a Chelsea legend for the most important game of the season, how can you call yourself a result-oriented manager?
Wenger would have been crucified for that.

Wenger was crucified for oxlade Chamberlain decision against Liverpool.

Emery has been celebrated for Cech decision against Chelsea.

The reason it will be lauded today, is because from the position we were left in, it would and will be an achievement to get top 4 again.

4th on it's own wasn't considered good enough because we were winning **** all with it. Nothing. We won a few cups and Wenger was given a huge vote of confidence from the fans, because it was considered something we could build on. What did he do in order to try and maintain momentum and push on? Neglect the ****ing squad.

Remember... We fell out of the top 4 under Wenger. He failed two years on the trot--and by some way--in a kinder climate than we currently have.

That is why it will be lauded.

Why does this need explaining?

When is it the players fault and when is it the managers fault?
It's the managers fault if he's been failing in similar fashion for over a span of at least 2-3 years. It's the players fault otherwise. This year was on the players. If it happens again in similar fashion next year, it's on the manager. There's no other way you can call it. It's about lifelines and trust.

The reason it will be lauded today is because people's expectations of Emery are lower. We started this season in a much better position than we were left in. You conveniently forgot we bought a new GK, a new CB, a new DM and a new CM.

We won a few cups and Wenger was given a huge vote of confidence from the fans, because ..
.. because he delivered UCL football for 20+ years. On a budget.

Remember... We fell out of the top 4 under Wenger..

Again, we fell out of top 4 under an aging Arsène Wenger, who struggled to retain power against Gazidis and a passively unambitious owner.

Also, kinder climate? Bullshit. Chelsea, Tottenham and United were all TERRIBLE this year. Emery's terrible tactics and management saw us drop from third.

Emotional, negative and shallow post. Exactly what I expected from Jury.
