Still Pining for Wenger
We have been bending over for players' wishes for years. We have to start being assertive at some point of time. If that time is now, so be it. Yes. There are footballers who play for passion and love of the club and game. Not many people fall into that category. Even if you see this just as a job, when your manager asks you to come for a meeting and you say that you won't come, will he sit and watch?
Not going to a match in spite of being asked to, is downright stupid. No excuse for that. The club's response is perfectly fine. If we don't do that, who is to say that someone else will not try repeating the same thing and try leaving for free so that he could get a higher salary?
There's bending over and then there's bending over. Imagine you own a bakery and the last twelve people who've come into your store and have been scam artists and tricked you somehow. You decide the next person that walks through the door, no matter what, you'll refuse them. The thirteenth person is a starving homeless kid who asks you for some free bread and you refuse because of past bad experiences.
Koscielny is that thirteenth person. We have to make a stand, but not with Kos. Save that for anyone else.
You can have passion and still consider it just a job because that is what it is. Even if you love your job, you still won't put it, or you shouldn't put it above your own needs.
Someone else will try it anyway but we shouldn't have let it get to this place.
