Disagree. De Ligt went for what £76? He's a generational talent. Maguire is decent but more expensive than VVD? Bad business.
In regards to De Ligt, English tax has to be considered, so with that in mind I still find it to be good business predicated if a good chunk of the fee is hinging on performance add ons and appearances.

Doesn’t work like that. PL clubs have to pay more. Koulibably for example will cost 100M for English clubs.

We paid nearly 30M for an 18 year old with 15 games.

You can turn it which way you want but 80M for Maguire isn't good business imo. Plenty of CB's better/cheaper than him. He'll be a good signing but 80M is scary.

Who is better and cheaper?

80M is nothing to Utd. He’s English too and young.

Exactly. It's only a good deal because money doesn't matter to ManU, apparently.

As soon as money becomes a factor of relevance, it's a mediocre deal.

How’s it a bad deal? He’s a good defender? We’re paying 30M for a teenager who might be the next Nesta or Senderos, we don’t know.

I get what you mean by the transfer price, but you also compared him to our business with Zaha. Are you suggesting that the quality improvement from Smalling/Lindelof to Maguire will be more than the quality improvement from Iwobi to Zaha.
