Granit upped his game after the usual sloppy start. Still not convinced with him but he is playing the majority of games this season so hope he improves somehow.

Willock was really poor. Barely on the ball. Hope he's more involved when playing in CM.

Not watched any preseason though, so unaware of his current level.

Unlike last year, no wtf plays from the back line. Leno really not called upon. So quite different already.

Only real concern for me was some of the transitional play from the midfield, but considering the laughable XI it was serviceable.

-Mkhitaryan  Not even going to elaborate. Rather play any of our young guns over him at this point.

-Xhaka again showing his frustrating limitations as a player.

-Auba’s off the mark which is very important. Need him at his clinical best.

-Positively surprised by AMN and Chambers.

-Ceballos/Pepe off the pace, they’ll need some time

Very good in the second half along with Guendouzi. Controlled possession and created a nice chance for Auba as well as doing his job defensively. Fairly simple really.
His first half display along with mkhitaryan almost cost us the game, but because he got the basics right in the second half he gets an eight, reiss was working hard tracking back and applying himself in attacking situations, it didn't click for him offensively as well as it could have but his overall game was way better than Xhaka's from a team aspect.

Very pleased with the result, Newcastle away is never easy. Also played a lot of youth and our squad is significantly stronger than last year.

Still have a lot of work to do though. General play wasn't that good, haven't created much and could have easily lost the game.

I’m one of Xhaka’s biggest critics but he done well today.

I still think our team make unnecessary passes at times. Instead of playing it sideways or backwards, some of these players should be running at these pub players. Willock done it at times today.
