So far in 2019/20 we have -6.4 shots. I wouldn't dream of something like this in my worse nightmare.

Your back in your element again bro after 16 months in the wilderness.
Just stating the facts. If Emery won't fix this, we won't get better. So far I wrote in here more postives post about Emery than not. I defended him many times, but he needs to show some progress. Going backwards right now. Usually stats don't lie, especially analytics. Our xG and xGA looks bad for a long time now.

Not 100 shots on goal. It’s actually 92 shots, including blocked. Media is using this as a stick to beat Emery and people are misinterpreting/running with it. The hyperbole is unwarranted.

For example, reporting 31 shots for Watford. Watford has 10 on goal, which is still obviously poor play by us. Despite all the shots, Watford created 2 good chances and their goals came from errors, not creating clear chances.
Dude, it doesn't matter how you interpret that figure. 92 shots is a ridiculous amount to face for a top team. It speaks volumes as to the porous midfield we have...
Note also, I did not say we have faced 100 shots but that we are nearly at that figure..

Yes they are. They are generally not the patient type. The speed at which they want to get rid of managers also applies to how they rate managers at other clubs.

Rodgers currently has 24% of the vote in the poll asking who should take over from Emery. After he was sacked from Liverpool I can't remember many rating him. So presumably the few months he done well at Leicester last season must have changed people's minds (no one seems to rate his achievements at Celtic). No doubt if he struggles this season he is back to being David Brent again. Ten Hag is talked about as a possible candidate, mainly because of the run he had in the CL last season (Ajax always played good football and developed their youth, so that can't be the reason). Zidane was seen as a great manager just after he won his 3rd CL in a row. Now after he went back and is struggling no one rates him anymore again.

The grass always seems greener on the other side.

Preach. Some of the fans are full of $**t with the nonsense they spout out.

It doesn't matter

Hes screaming indecisive

Can't choose a formation, can't choose a captain, can't choose his best squad

Fans were screaming fior a manager who changes the formation and tries to effect the game, something Wenger was heavily criticised for, and now he, 'can't choose a formation'.... like I said, some fans a full of $**t.

Venkatesham: Emery is doing an excellent job

“Absolutely, we are very comfortable with him and his coaching staff. We think he is doing an excellent job, so we are very happy,” Venkatesham told The Straits Times.

“When we appointed Unai, the team that worked on that looked at lots of different attributes that we felt we want to have in our head coach.

“One of them was, we want a coach who was willing, able, and had a track record of playing young players, because that is an important part of Arsenal Football Club.”

Some of the crap I have been reading here and on Twitter ihas been ridiculous. I am actually surprised that some fans on Twitter have so many followers with the utter nonsense they spout out. Fans just seem to regurgitate what they hear like parrots rather than actually analyising the situation and being rational and reasonable with their thinking. Emery neeeds time to build HIS team. The next stage of rebuilding will be the defence which he has started with the addtions of Tierney, Saliba and hopefully, Upamecano. Is it not better to wait until Emery fully completes our defense rebuilding before judging him. Our current defense is still very much from the old regime so he need's at least another year to imprint his style.

Midfield is the bigger problem IMO than defence.

I'll just add, our bench v Watford was Nelson, Willock, Torreira, Martinez, Martinelli, Saka, Chambers. 3 Academy grads, and an 18 year old Brazilian. And fans moaned that Emery was not giving the youngsters an opprtunity to shine. Some fans talk a loada ****.

I was saying this last season, we can't control the midfield with the players we have. I can fully understand why Emery is playing with 3 midfielders. We need to try and control the midfield using numbers as we don't have the quality to play with a midfield 2. Our midfielders are role specialists. We just need to work out how to combine the roles to their best effect.

Just joshing with you. Yep, you did support him for a while. If the pundits and fans keep off his back though, I still think he’ll make top 4 this year even with Xhaka, Sokratis and Luiz doing their best to give goals away every game. That would actually be quite an achievement.

Question:

What does Emery now need to do to keep his job, by the end of the season?

Any new manager coming here will struggle with our midfield and central defence. We’re light years away from the quality of Pool and City.
