But he needed to be removed from the control room for the good of everybody—but mostly for the good of his own health.
A board decision. So in essence I agree with your evaluation but your conclusion is wrong. The board needed to make this decision... The board needed to back Wenger and lighten the load for him. The board used Wenger as a scape goat. It is now becoming clear they can't find a new one..

We ALL love Wenger. Those fans who ‘took him down’ love him too—I was one of them. But he needed to be removed from the control room for the good of everybody—but mostly for the good of his own health. Why not be glad he’s still with us and hasn’t dropped dead in the touch line? The lord moves in mysterious ways...
That's true too, the stress must have been a ten tonne weight on his head.

Anyway, lets sit back and enjoy what 'for the good of everybody' has brought us.

Because while we wait and wait other clubs are climbing above us and leaving us to dust?
And why is that? Because the board won't spend. SO the board spending on the squad depended on Wenger leaving? What absolute kak.

Literally no sense this argument.

Emery and Wenger each had completely different climates to work under.
Emery, can focus on his squad, his tactics and his philosophy. Although it appears he has not done so.
On the other hand, Wenger was responsible for a whole host of things to make it all happen.

The board should have restructured in a way to alleviate the pressure from AW. That is my point.

P.S. We're further behind in the dust now than we ever were with Arsène so that is an absolutely confusing argument to bring up.

Answered your own question, it was always going to be a long path for us to get back to the level we want to be at. And procrastinating does nothing but lengthen the "transition path".
What is this level you want to be at? And when did you ever notice a club with our investment in the team (currently 5th in the league), ever reach it?

Careful traxxy, Can't have them listing that Leicester anomaly all the time.;)
Leicester waited 140 years for that.

Our youngest AM fan will be cyber enhanced, rolling around the room in his anti gravity chair in 2120 shouting at the holoscreen, 'Yes we've won the ****ing Prem and the CL double. Told you we were right to sack Wenger, the useless bast*rd"

Look what they're doing again, having lost their best players... Where does the credit go to there? Proof that if you switch things around correctly, you can indeed punch above your weight. Look at Wolves...

Imagine a big club like us getting a manager who immediately knows what's going to work...

Backing Wenger would have meant he endured the stress for longer. It concluded with him leaving his post. That's all that mattered.

Of course he needed to go. All those FA Cups, top 4 finishes, CL knockout games were boring right. And coming 2nd to Leicester was the last straw.

So the fan rants took him down to Euoropa League level and the club got in a Europa League Specialist and everybody was happy.

Except a few of us, who were ****ing livid.
Oooh. So it was the fans' rants that caused that? Was it also the fans' rants that caused us to get embarrassed in every big game for years as well? If so then he definitely needed to go since he can be so easily influenced or affected by the fans' rants.

Strange argument to make. Those who wanted him out had no brains in my opinion. Many of those who were chanting wenger out were conflating many different issues with the club and making it seem as if wenger was the cause and root problem when he was not.

Most were pissed off at the high ticket prices which is directly an issue that the executive and board controlled, not wenger.

Others were looking at the lack of spending, While wenger was reluctant to buy for buying sake, he was not the sole reason why the club didn't spend. The club has a philosophy of spending a portion of what it earns and no more. That goes beyond wenger. Further more our spending has never been comparable to the top spenders and frankly speaking if your budget is lower, you will generally get lower quality players.

Others had issues with the lack of trophies, well we won 3 fa cups and apparently that wasn't enough. He fell short two seasons in a row and people were putting the boot in from before that. Why because of the stupid narrative that the grass is greener on the other side.

Frankly speaking, many fans just wanted change for the sake of it. As stupid as it sounds that is really the root. The media also likes to push narratives until managers get sacked. I have seen them do it to Moyes, Van Gaal, Mourinho, Conte, Sarri, Hodgson, AVB, and many others.

The media has been wenger out from 2010 and every year they would repeat how arsenal was not going to get top 4 for almost a decade until they finally got it right in 2017.

Some arsenal fans are like a woman who's been married to a man for ten years, nothing is wrong with her relationship but she sees her friends doing things with their husbands that shes not doing and think she could have been doing that also and more. So she stupidly files for divorce because she wants to experience more and something different. Only to go pick up a Bum like Unai After. It is only then Does she realize how good she had it.

Some of you fans don't deserve any happiness.

Yep they did.

And we didn't get embarrassed in every big game for years. Do you remember beating oligarch funded Chelsea in two of Wenger's 7 cup finals.

With respect, this is a bit of fantasy.

Do you go to games? The fans in the stadium wanted him gone because they lost faith in him and he was pissing transfer money up the wall. We'd fallen out of the top 4 twice as well. We were in decline. If they were that concerned about ticket prices, the STH's would have been selling their seats for matches they'd decided to stop attending in droves. Unless their mates were invisible, I don't think they were arsed about the money. The situation was dire.

They wanted change because they felt they deserved it, just like they do now. No difference.

We get another man in, the club takes off again, and nobody will talk about Wenger. I dont even know why he's the topic of discussion in here anyway.

Of course you can punch above your spend. Wenger did it for 20 years straight. Good luck with Leicester or Sp**s managing that. Or winning 7 FA Cups and 3 Prem titles in that time.

There were Wenger out chants from before we dropped out of the top 4. Those last two seasons were not the cause of the sack. They were the reason given but not the cause.

Also every time we would lose a game you would hear the match going fans moan about how "We pay the highest ticket prices in Europe to see our team get beaten".

I'm not sure which rock you've been under but there has been a wenger out movement for years before he got sack. However as I alluded to earlier, much of it was without basis.

There were things you could genuinely fault him for, yes. However at the end of the day this is a results business and more often than not his results were good or acceptable. He failed twice to achieve the targets and got the sack. That is fine.

The problem I have is that people are behaving as if he was being judged only on results when in fact a lot of other issues were being brought into play to assess his work.
