That’s short sighted. We need to plan for the future not for today. Auba would want at least a two year extension and around £300k a week. You’re just asking for another Özil situation.
Özil should not be a stick for all.

Auba a golden boot winner last year. On course for 20+ league goals this year in a truly awful team & minutes out wide.

He is only 30 with his birthday in June. Alot of 32+ strikers up in the goal charts round Europe at the mo.

If we were proactive, we’d agree a deal to sign Erling Haaland in January but let him stay at his club until the summer and sell Aubameyang for 70m in January.

This season is a write off anyways.

Haaland and Martinelli would be fantastic young options upfront.

I'd take Haaland asap, but being pro-active does 't help here, he won't come.

Better offers at hand

A lot of players think they're better than they actually are.

Xhaka, Özil, Laca are prime examples...the reason why the team has been playing crap is simple...all of you aren't good enough.

Aubu is an elite poacher but he's still levels below Lewe, Suarez, Augero and Kane. Seems to me he's given up on playing for the club since our poor form. Happy to get a good fee for him so we can reinvest.

I'm happy for this season to be a complete write off, as long as we're building for the future. Arteta looks like someone with a vision and philosphy on how football should be played, that's exactly what we need.

Can you imagine how long it‘d take for us to to bring in someone who‘s actually the head coach of a team?
Well we had a head coach of a team who was consistently top 4, and the fans worked day and night to undermine him. Then we had another former head coach of a team and fans were desperate to get rid of him too.

So lets try a young hungry assistant who might become a legend, however long it takes to get him.

Very few players are going to want to come here until we can show we can win things again. No longer have a legendary manager to woo people and players will see how the club has treated certain players over the last 18 months or so. We're in for a rough time.

That's, like, your opinion, man.

Emery said that he wanted energy of the players transmitted to the fans, wanted us to play protagonist football...... in the end look at what happened. Whatever football Arteta wants us to play is irrelevant cause everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

It's televant insofar what you can expect on the pitch and what terms he will be criticized on.

Interesting to see that people see big holes in our squad physically and mentality yet most fail to admit that last two transfers windows were we signed around 10 players was not that good.
The holes in our squad have been there for years. Depends on what you define as a 'hole'? I'd call players like Özil, Xhaka, Mustafi and Sokratis 'holes', and apart from Sokratis, they've been here years. Bellerin? Another hole... Been here years. Chambers and Holding? More rubbish. Been here years.

We got in some excellent young talent like Pepe, Martinelli and Douzi, with some old crap, like Luiz, but that was forced on us due to Kos leaving. Our last window was a good window. You've been banging the 'it was rubbish lol' drum for ages now. That's your opinion. We got Martinelli and Pepe out of it and sorted our wing options out. We added players for the future. We need to get rid of crap now.

We said that last year though, got the highest rated winger in Europe, one of the best young CB prospects, a very highly rated Ceballos who was wanted at plenty of places.

This club still has a massive pull. Players might be attracted to the rebuild.

You think the legendary manager would still be wooing players despite where we'd most probably be sitting in the league, had the legendary manager stayed?

I dare to say we aren't even looking to sign topclass players anymore.

Imo, we tried this more recently and now, due to financial restrictions, less pull and the appointment of Arteta, a man taylor-made for nurturing young talents, we'll start a new in a more Dortmund type of approach.

We need to make players feel like this is the place to be as a youngster again, the place where you get games and play exciting football.

If you do well, you automatically get back to top 4 or title challenges after a few years.

True, but things have gone straight downhill since then.

We do have pull though, I'm just feeling like a pessimistic asshole at the moment.
