How can we really react to signing a player most of us haven’t heard of it? I find it hard to be positive or negative about this. Martinelli was a success so maybe the Brazilian league has some gems.

You can see instantly after Arteta coaching our defence looks like a different unit so it’s the coaching that I’m more concerned about over the years more so than the players

You're not wrong there. There also doesn't seem much thought in buying centre backs used for a system, with attributes that we are lacking, or buying them that will compliment each other & make a partnership.
On paper Mari & Saliba has the potential to be a good partnership. Both tall & physical, 1 with more pace & athleticism, the other perhaps bringing the leadership & organisational skills.
