I havent always been on the Grealish train possibly due to what he done on Ireland and favoured McGinn (a very good player who I would like here) but I'll tell you what Grealish is a baller. I've watched him a lot in recent weeks and he is the type of player who seems like they will play well in any system and not just a system. This is where in my mind he differs from Madisson.

IMO Grealish is better as LWF in the 4-3-3 system and arguably WC there. Maddison better as CM/CAM. If you are getting Grealish you need a goalscorer, creative and offensive CM to make the balance like Golovin.

Maddison would a upgrande on Özil imo. He is more participative, shoots more, presses more. Grealish + one CM probably fits better if Arteta wants a 4-3-3 scheme.

Like Arsenal played yesterday, 4-2-3-1

Auba ----- Martinelli/Laca --- Pepe
------------- Maddison ---------------
Saka ---- Ndidi --- Ceballos -- Bellerin
----------- Luiz ---- Saliba -----------

That would be world class team.

- Martinelli/Laca being a improve to Nketiah.
- Maddison being a improve to Özil
- Ndidi a improve to Xhaka (since you needs a more defensive-oriented and fast player to accomodate slow players like Ceballos or Guendouzi).
- Ceballos seems to have potential to be a regista, but he is not a CAM.

Now, Maddison is very hard to Arteta get, Ndidi also. Ceballos is a RM player. Auba is in the last year of the contract.

- Instead of Ndidi, Pape Gueye could be good.. for 6 million? There is Torreira too that could be better than Xhaka.
- Instead of Maddison I think Brandt, even the own Golovin could be better than Grealish in the CAM position.
- Guendouzi instead of Ceballos, it is probably a downgrade for now, but it still would work better than Xhaka-Torreira as double pivot since neither of these are creative like the french.

Auba ---- Marti/Laca ----- Pepe
------------ Golovin --------------
----- Torreira - Guendouzi -----

You can't rely more on Özil too.

If it is a 4-3-3 than I'm all for Grealish and a offensive 8.

Grealish ----- Auba -------- Pepe
------ Golovin --- Guendouzi ---
-------------- Torreira ------------

The 4-2-3-1 is more offensive while the 4-3-3 retain and control the possesion more.

We have a lot of players that have moved on and although it would be great to have some of them back I think we need to move forward and stop looking back so Ramsey is a no for me.

I'd love a Ramsey type here. I agree, Ransey himself might be too injury prone for what it would cost to bring him back.

Ramsey is finsihed!!

Could never stay fit with us, see that hasn't changed and he's on too much money now.

More of a liability than an asset if you ask me...
his worst season was better than any CM we have. Plus he knows his way around the PL. Plus he is HG.

Wouldn't be as big a liability as you imagine.

Doesn't mean to say that he'd be better than someone younger, cheaper with a better requisite skillset for the team out there.

For me he's always been one of those in between players, he's not that fast, has poor balance, passing lacks quality at times, has skill on the ball, but not enough to wow you, but then had the knack of showing up in the right spots in right times and scoring some good goals, when he could stay fit.

Still a hard pass for me.

he is on Özil wages. he'd be one of the topearners in the league. We can get MUCH better for that kind of money.

he was on quite high wages anyway, so it won't be big issue. Maybe we can try a loan...

That's what we lack. We are crying out for someone who moves vertically between the defense and the forwards. We have Torreira and Xhaka who move sideways.

I don't really know or care about the wages tbh

Wishlist for summer (I update every so often)

LOSSES:
Lacazette (£70m), Aubameyang (£80m), Mkhitaryan (£15m), Elneny (£15m), Martinez (£8m), Mustafi (£15m), Kolasinac (£20m), Özil (£20m), Guendouzi (£75m), Mavropanos (£7m), Smith Rowe (Loan), Nelson (Loan), Sokratis (£12.5m)

RE-SIGN:
Saka (5 year= £75k), Torreira (5 year= £125k), Martinelli (5 year= £75k)

GAINS:
Cedric (free), Walter Benitez (free), Layvin Kurzawa (free), Lorenzo Pellegrini (£27m), Dayot Upamecano (£40m), Lautaro Martinez (£92m), Emi Buendia (£30m), Wilfred Ndidi (£70m), Said Benrahma (£15m)

What Arsenal are lacking IMO is players that are versatile so:

Buendia: Can play on the wings or attacking midfield
Benrahma: Can play any wing
Pellegrini: Can play DM, AM or just CM.

And Martinez is an upgrade on Laca whilst replacing Auba. Can also give Saka and Martinelli whilst interchanging with Buendia and Benrahma. Ndidi gives us probably our best midfielder and Upamecano is an upgrade on defence. Kurzawa is a backup so Saka can play further forward and Cedric is also a backup. It would be a recipe for success with also Saliba coming too.

Ramsey is a 29 year old injury prone midfielder on 300k wages that previously run down his contract at Arsenal. Just because he has good movement doesnt mean we should sign him. I personally want Lorenzo Pellegrini, Ramsey has played 13 games this season and there is 10x better options. I reckon hes a poor Ceballos ngl, Ceballos hasnt had a chance and when he has hes played well. I know we need a rebuild, but don't buy players for sentimentality or a couple good attributes.

Interesting as Mikel seems to disagree with you. From what he has said he wants specialists in each position rather than versatile players. The marginalisation of AMN, his comments about Saka (a winger) at left back and wanting a left footed central defender certainly seem to point to this already.

Its just what if someone gets injured, you got to have versatile players. I think its recipe for failure if you go for players that only have 1 position

I can't say I disagree. I think that is what he is used to at City where they have 2 specialists in each position. I don't think we have the resources to build a squad like that though. My preference is maybe a couple of specialists in key positions and then a handful of versatile players. I think we have certainly suffered from only having one right back (Bellerin) and one defensive midfielder (Torreira) this season for example.

I don't know. He has a unique style. Can't see too many like him around

but Holding’s hair transplant was painless
In: Dunk/Ake/Koulibailly, Mari, Soares, Dacoure, Ceballos, Gueye, Lemar.
Out: Mustafi, Sokratis, Holding, Kolasinac, El Nenny, Xhaka, Özil, Lacazette.

Add that to Salibah, Saka and Martinelli being developed further and we have a hard-working, physical team, which is versatile and adaptable.
