The truth is ESR is a million miles away from replacing Özil. He is unproven at any level above youth football. Maybe he is good enough and just needs the game time ala Jadon Sancho or he could be a Reiss Nelson who allegedly is/was as talented as Sancho, but hasn't quite developed yet.

Solution? We need an on form Özil with ESR as understudy. Since we aren't seeing the best of Özil again consistently, we probably need to replace Özil and give ESR a couple of years to develop.

A Premier League loan would be ideal. If not, time to test him out.

What is he supposed to learn under Özil exactly? How to go missing in matches? How to conveniently be sick after a embarrassing/heavy defeat?

I agree with THunter when he says we need to be patient with these players. Gnabry for example really didn't start delivering at highest level until he was 22...

Sometimes players need to be moved on as well though for them to blossom. Guys like Gnabry and Schez may never of become the players they had unless they moved. Football is so unpredictable.

ESR would do better than current Özil and is better suited to artetas system than Özil is. Only concern is his fitness which is a big one.

No idea what you can learn from one of the most technically gifted players of his generation. Your right, get him watching tapes of Dele Alli.
When has Özil last showed this ? Also dele does not play for us so that point is irrelevant. You were talking ESR being a understudy. Unless dele played for us ?

Define 'do better'. ESR has started 1 Premier League game and it was a horror show. I believe in him, but giving him the creative burden would be ****. He needs blooding in slowly.

Technical brilliance? Every time he steps on the pitch. His influence is nowhere near enough though.

I'm making assumptions, but guessing you believe Martinelli can replace Auba as well? Replacing senior players with kids doesn't seem like a recipe for success to me. It's a big jump playing for a lower mid-table Championship team to taking over from a superstar.

Yes they need to be at place where they get faith. patience and playing time. Something we struggle with.
Sometimes we give too much playing time and complacency sets in. It was the case with scezny, maybe Iwobi and Theo. Considering they were playing first team football at 20 at a top 4 club, you would have expected them to kick on and become worldies at Arsenal. You could put Gibbs and Bellerin in that list too. These youngsters have to face competition within the club. The fired up ones will set themselves targets based on some other youngsters in other clubs. Ronaldo needed Messi and vice versa. Ps add Jack Wilshere to that list.

Maybe

You're wrong, no?

Are we talking 1 goal and 3 assists superstar worth 350k/w?
Pretty sure we could get that output by brining back Elnenny and playing him behind a striker

Again, are we talking about the same superstar who has a history of being invisible in every bigger game here? It's not even big games he is missing, it's every game when it's rainy, cold or people try to tackle or push him.

It's not like he needs to replace De Bruyne or David Silva like Foden.
Replacing useless Özil is probably the easiest transition from u18 to the senior team in our history. Kid can replace his massive 1 goal and 3 assists even by a fluke, just need to get a chance.
May as well help us pressing and defending while he's there

Let him have 2 or 3 bad games in a row and The Clock End will be on his case and demanding the board spend some money.

Özil is past it, but let's not pretend that his technique still isn't incredible.

He's got immense potential, we'd be crazy not to try and unearth it. He just got sidetracked by one or two poorly times injures is all.

Honestly think he might be the crown jewel of our academy crop though, at least he was preceding everyone's integration into the main squad imo.

His first name says it all.

Destined for eternal greatness.

We need to keep him, and get him going and as @Aevi says, try to unearth his potential. The few times we saw him with the first team he was showing high, high class.

Just needed to dust the cobwebs off a little bit and get some momentum. His time at Huddersfield was doing that for him. I expect to see him return confidently next season.

Off of my purse !
It feels like our fans randomly pull a name out the hat and proclaim them the next big thing.

He's had a couple of decent performances here and there, he's hardly set the world alight for us though.
