Yeah, I keep imagining if Eduardo and RVP were both got throughout that season, what could have been?

Injuries plus bad mentality really ****ed us. Wenger did all he could that season, but there's only so much you can do when your squad is riddled with injury and you rivals a spending obscene amount of money
Yeah Wenger doesn't get the credit he deserve for the early years in the Emirates. Everyone says he was great in his first 10 years, I'll go and extend that by saying first 15 years (up until 2011 League Cup final) imo

Interesting that Gary Lewin said it was the Gallas incident that did the most damage and split the dressing room.

Of course all the Internet tough guys on here probably think Gallas did good for showing “pashun”

Amazing how long Gallas spent at Arsenal after doing that, mind blowing he outlasted Toure here.

He even got to keep the armband.

Scandalous!

Even worse, Toure went to Wenger after 2008/09 and said it was either Gallas or him and we chose Gallas.

As good as we were that season, if you want a match that changed Arsenal it was probably our 2006 Champions League final defeat.

Gallas was a good defender tbf but was a terrible leader he was not captain material at all but that's been a problem at Arsenal we've given the captains armband to the wrong players.. Can someone tell me why was Thomas Vermaelen made club captain ??

It's pointless trying to rationalize it.

The last time we had a solid captain is probably Arteta

We've had too many near missed for it all to be a coincidence.

A poster once said sometime ago that Arsenal's story was written by a drunk whose wife left him.

So many disappointments. The biggest disappointments obviously being the 2007/2008 and 2005/2006 season.

I Imagine the club would have been far different now if we'd won the trophies in the above two seasons

Underrated is not the word I would use to describe Arsenal in 2016...

League is very weak
We fell out of the Champions League because of years of complacency, which comes from the top down.

Mustafi and Xhaka are probably both going to be the first names on the Arteta team sheet despite nearly 300M spent in the last 2 summer windows. What does that tell us?

Keep seeing this argument from that Noncestalgic merchant @Riou and the fake-news con @Oxeki.

We were decent that season. The competition was simply better, and in comparison to the year before, where we finished 2nd. We won the FA Cup beating the two best teams in the country. Bettered our points tally compared to the prior season, scored more, a better overall GD, etc. Everybody was raving about Mustafi and his unbeaten record. Xhaka had a pretty good season too, finishing up with great performances against City and Chelsea.

Bet you an Emery lover like @Oxeki thinks last season was better than the 16/17 season.
