When he says that Auba needs to be valued, do you think it's just about money? Or could it also be about his position on the pitch, that he needs to be the main striker playing through the middle.

Looking for receipts 👀
You would like to think the club would be happy to offer him similar terms as hes on with a 2 year extension. 3 seasons maybe getting 2 top seasons out of him and one ok one would be good enough. By then the young lads would be at the peak of their powers if they are any good.

Dont know exactly how much he is on but if it's around the 200k a week mark plus bonuses and stuff it's hard to see him getting anymore money anywhere else.

Mikis wages will be off the books. Replaced by Nelson. So your looking at a saving of maybe 120k plus a week. Sell someone like a Mustafi or Sokratis and that's another saving of 70-80k a week. By shifting a few high earners who add no value to the team you can pay your 25 goal a season striker.

That would make me believe it is more about the footballing side of things and not the money. If it is about money he signs with us on the same terms (we dont know what he is being offered or was offered in the past but it's unlikely to be less money) and at 34 he could still go to USA maybe China for one or two years and get another few quid.

For me if one of the below expresses an interest and are willing to pay what we pay or close enough he goes.

PSG
Barca
Real
Juventus
Inter (less sure about this but offer CL and closer to challenging that us).

Hes not going to Bayern. Liverpool or City no. United model is youth. Chelsea seem to be getting Werner.

Maybe now is his moment to go to one of the big boys for a number of reasons. One Suarez and Benzema are getting on and although there isnt much age wise Auba might freshen things up for a couple of years for them. Secondly there isnt the same money so while Real may have been plotting for a Kane or Mbappe before for 200m picking up Auba for 25m could seem hugely attractive. Short term guaranteed goals until things sort themselves out.

Pep spot on as usual, Auba is not a top footballer.

Mourinho also hate Lacazette.

I'm the biggest supporter in the world of Auba and Laca but when you see what is said about the two by elite managers and that Emery and Arteta basically have to work overtime to make them two work somehow on the field work you ask questions, could the life of the manager be easier with more rounded players for the positions they play in?

League is very weak
Says they reconsidered because they thought he was a bad character though?
Character is part of being a top footballer? He’s probably the most dead Arsenal striker in terms of personality and character on the pitch when compared to Wright, Bergkamp, Henry, RvP etc.

Character as in they thought he'd be unprofessional, a trouble-maker behind the scenes etc.

Auba is African. It's hardly a surprise Pep was questioning his character. Just ask Eto'o and Toure.

Remember when Pep was doing a press conference, and the topic somehow got onto Pep wanting his kids to be friends with every type of person...black people, Asian people, but described white kids as "normal kids" ffs

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if Pep demanded the Man City shirts to say "All Lives Matter" on them tonight instead.

Could be a language barrier. Though every Spanish person I have ever met have been phenomenal racists.

Top managers get it wrong from time to time but they most often get it right. Its why they are paid over 8 M per year to manage the teams.

I haven't seen Laca and Auba proven anyone wrong. They are good players in their own rights but IMO the quality of our attack has been spiralling downwards since they joined.

How many average players can win the golden boot in the EPL in their debut season and still be in with a chance to win it in the second season
