Biggest issue now is still cultural. Look at the names in our squad, pedigree. It's still good enough to be between 4-6.

They've downed tools, lead by the senior players and the only way to fix it is to turn over a large portion of the squad.

The job is enormous. We will need some luck to do it quickly
It's too easy a criticism, 'we've got the players, but they're just can't be arsed'.

Take Luis, he was always doing stupid things throughout his career, they were just further apart when he was young and now he's ageing and slowing down he's doing it more. Probably why Chelsea let him go.

But Luis is a decent man and has always given everything. He didn't give 2 goals away against City because he can't be arsed. Same with Mustafi and Sokratis who are equally rash. It's in their makeup. And having 3 like that together is just criminal.

Look how Xhaka reacted to fan criticism. That's a guy who cares. But he's not mobile enough, can't pass a player and again prone to rashness. To me Lacazette looks desperate for a goal and is over thinking and snatching at chances, as strikers out of form often do. But he runs back and tries hard to retrieve the ball.

Özil is the only one that maybe p!ssed by the way the club is treating him and downing tools, but I'm not even sure about that. The way he plays makes him look laid back and always has done.

Many years later, lots of players, and 3 managers on, 'the players are bunch of bottlers who need a rocket up their arses' has taken up too much bandwidth. Our problems are clearly more complex and deeper.

League is very weak
Do you guys reckon Arteta might get sacked if our form goes worse over the next 8 games?
Nah, he’ll get next season.

Honestly, if you are sacking 2 managers from 2018-21 at a club like Arsenal, something is massively wrong.

Raul must be under intense pressure.

Theres a million issues. Lack of leadership. Lack of pride. Lack of tactics. For example if you have a terrible defence dont keep trying to play out from the back. Sometimes yes but not everytime. If invites pressure on your defence and we end up going long anyway. So it doesnt work.

Football is a results business. Arteta has a way he wants to play but these players arent able to do it. So maybe it's time to put his perfect idea to one side. Get results another way and then in preseason you can get the players in to fit your style.

But you cant let the club freefall these last 8/9 games just to keep with your perfect style of football. Substance first style second.

And yet, with nearly the same set of players last season we took 70 points.

Luiz is an interesting one. Because he came in last minute after our Captain, who had been in a new North London Adidas season promo video spectacularly and suddenly quit the club on the eve of our US tour. - If that doesnt hint to a major cultural issue(s) at the club I don't know what does.

If your comment is that our squad isn't good enough for a club of our statue my response is yes, you are 100% correct.

In may last year we'd disappointingly finished 5th on 70 points and had an upcoming final in Baku to get into UCL.
From then to now we lost Ramsey, Monreal, Kolscielny, Cech of note

Added Pepe, Martinelli, Luiz, Tierney, Ceballos. - Saka has burst onto the scene.

That to me doesnt equate to our parlous position now. There's another element of dressing room unrest, bad eggs etc. - We've seen it with side shows all season. Who we resigned this year? Joe Willock? That's it? There's big issues in that squad.
Whether it's player v manager (s)/ player & agent v board etc, they've been allowed.to fester and derail our season.

Covid has been an absolute nightmare for him. Disrupted any momentum we had going and we’re now picking up injuries left right and centre.

Worst of all it’s crashed the transfer market. Good luck finding buyers for any of our bums now. And I don’t think we can buy without selling. Apparently Kroenke is in trouble too, so zero chance of him helping the club out / allowing us to stretch our financial position.

Arteta sacking isnt even up for debate. He needs the minimum until the end of next season for us to judge. 18 months or so is enough to see if theres improvements or not.

Pep and Klopp after 18 months had their sides playing better. Ole has United playing better. Lampard getting results too after almost a full season despite problems.

All those teams had either better players in place already, or more money...Klopp did very well though.

Yeah but they showed improvement. The players also that maybe weren't performing the best started to perform better and maybe listen to the instructions given.

It's not always just throw money at the problem as we have seen we are no better with Laca/Auba/Pepe than we were with Giroud/Sanchez/Walcott. Which 3 cost more?

Firmino/Mane/Robertson cost less than Pepe.
Milner was free. Winjaldum and Henderson albeit not super footballers cost around the same as Xhaka. Salah cost 14m less than Laca. So it shows you can get better players for less if you look for the right profile. Not just taking whatever you can get your hands on.

How can United get easily beaten by us but then beat Man City 3 times? With time and training and an idea how to play. With discipline. Not red cards and penalties.

Mods are unethical! Özil, come assist me please!
Sums up some of the problems. Once you fall out of the CL and then the EL the money starts drying up, you don't have the kudos of a world respected manager anymore and recruitment becomes much more difficult.

Its a slippery slope we're on, and a hell of a job for Arteta. He wasn't expecting a run of the mill mid-table club in the few years he'd been away. He left a club 2nd in the league, even if the fans were already starting their **** mission.
Man, Brendan Rodgers was clealy available before Leciester snapped him up.

He is proven at the highest levels now what he can do with so little.

Yeah pretty good, checkout his excellent EPL record on transfermarkt:
Brendon Rodgers:
Swansea 1.55 points per match
Liverpool 1.77 points per match
Leicester 1.90 points per match

There's another guy even better than Rodgers in the EPL spending 10 times less than United over 22 years.
Arsène Wenger 1.95 points per match

Yeah, people always running Henderson down on here. He's constantly bigging up players or telling them where to be. Top captain. And how many times have you seen him give the ball away?

In the past, ive given Henderson a lot of flack, but he’s matured into a decent engine midfielder. He’s not anything special, but he is mature and he works hard. Two traits that none of our players have now.

It’s not going to help things to chase Arteta away at this point. It’s clearly not his fault and I’m sure his brain is working overtime to try to fix things.

Lets not turn on him and take it out on him like we did our last two managers. Not until we’ve given him a proper shot. Let’s not forget this is still his first season with us. Give him one full season before being assholes.
