Interesting. Could argue there is no proof so Arsenal can say that. Orrr there actually wasn't.
The ESPN article didn't say there was a formal investigation, in fact in their article they went out of their way to state that the club denies there's an investigation.
There's a massive difference between a formal investigation and what they did say about 'a review of the talent identification process and financial aspects of recent transfer business.' Which likely happened.

many thanks for posting this article - it looks as if the Board must have approved it, given the detail, as I can't see any journalist being able to research it in such a short time
They said the Pepe deal was part of an internal investigation into the recruitment processes at the club.
To be fair the article only mentions a "review", but the tweet linking the article stated there was an investigstion, which just shows how disingenuous ESPN are.
Its obviously a nothing story used to get clicks, and has now been dismissed by both Lille and Arsenal.
This one says the club launched an internal investigation.

The idiot got carried away on the Saturday, he was much careful with his words on the Friday. You can see why the club warned him."ESPN reported on Friday that the club had launched an internal investigation into their recruitment processes amid concerns that had been raised over several transfers including the club-record £72 million purchase of Nicolas Pepe from Lille."
