Can see the sense in it.

The kid has only played around 30 pro games... not all at CB & across two pretty stop/ start seasons. Let him get a full season of football.

League is very weak
There is no point him being at Arsenal if he can get more football elsewhere. Arteta isn’t going to blood him in the first team as he’s chasing CL.

Saliba isn’t ready, this was always going to be the case unless you’re a phenomenal teenage CB.

Rio Ferdinand joined Utd at 24, up until that move he was still considered abit dopey and lazy at Leeds. This positions is an older players position.

Really funny how passionate people who have only watched a few highlights of a player are convinced that player will be our messiah.

You can argue we could’ve scouted and signed another CB last summer instead of Saliba who could’ve helped us last season, maybe saved us from spending on Luiz/Mari and then kicked on and helped us chase the CL this season, which Saliba clearly won’t do.

You’re potentially looking at a guy who is spending 2 seasons away from Arsenal, his 3rd season will be adapting and you’re potentially waiting into his 4th season to see him bring something to the party.

These comments make it seem like this could be a real possibility.

Saliba looked very raw decision making wise in his start for the U-23s the other day against Brighton.

Rennais is playing CL so this would be a very nice loan for him.

We don't need a million CBs, Gabriel, Luiz, Holding, with Marí and Chambers coming back is plenty.

It's probably not the worst decision, he obviously is in our long term plans but he probably does need regular game time & he may not get in ahead of guys like Luiz, Mari & Chambers when fit, then Holding & Gabriel obviously. If we end up getting more CB injuries & still getting rid of Mustafi & Sokratis we can always call him back like we did with Nketiah at Leeds that year.

And then refuse to sign a new contract leaving for half what we paid for him at the start of his 5th year.

If he does end up on loan we have to see full justification of Arteta and Edu pushing Raul Sanllehi out because in retrospect money could have been spent way better last summer. I am sceptical of this runour though, and still have confidence in Saliba at Arsenal working out (eventually).

How much have we actually paid for Saliba though? £10m? We see him as our long term CB. We either buy Gabi and Saliba and develop them or buy them when they cost £100m in a few years time

I read he has had a lot of **** going on in his personal life this year. A close relative died, rumour his mum but not sure. Not in the right mental state to claim a first 11 PL spot at his age right now

Exactly. Given enough time, he would have caused even more damage like he did at Barca. We were all excited about Pepe, but in hindsight, £72m on a one season wonder was crazy. Hopefully Saliba turns out to be a good signing at least.

Did people really think a 19 year old kid was going to be our starting CB this season when we're trying to get into the top 4?
If he's not getting regular mintues here then he needs to go on loan and develop, the Saliba/Gabriel partnership was always for the future.
