Interesting comments from the opposition manager.

If someone like Rodgers is saying this then clearly he can see Artetas point of view a d Rodgers is the type of manager who values technical quality really highly so you'd imagine a player like Özil would be right up his alley. However he also understands that football is more a team game than ever and you have to defend as a team, press as a team, etc. There can't be any passenger's just because said passenger might do something up to other end. You can't have an effective press if someone isn't doing it as well as the others as holes will appear. You can't have a good defensive shape if someone is easy to bypass. Thats pretty much what it all comes down to.

Seems like this is a very important game for the mood of the club this season.

I notice some fans starting to have doubts about Mikel Arteta. A win against Leicester will put us in the top 4 and justify Mikels decisions up till now.
A loss and many of us including me will be seriously questioning him.

I can’t speak for others but my peeves with the way we’re playing have little to do with one off results and I think it’s foolish for anyone to draw conclusions from one game, especially against a side as erratic as Leicester.

Nearly 40% of our possession is in our defensive third I expect that to continue today. We pass the ball around slowly back against opponents that don’t even deploy a high press. It’s defensive possession porn and ultimately ends up with the same predictable passing down the left side.

We will always get narrow victories in games like this, but we’re relying on an unsustainable chance conversion rate (currently highest in the league), rather than purposeful, progressive football.

Partey is a boost, but since his arrival Mikel has failed to get the right balance right in our attack. Certain players seem to get unlimited chances at mediocrity in their best position while others are restricted to cameo roles in different positions or ditched entirely.

He’s lucky he’s not playing in front of crowds because fans would not be very agreeable to this kind of football for too long, especially at home.

@Tir Na Nog absolutely. I think one of the most consistent plaudits we've heard since Arteta took charge is how we've been more organised, resilient, everyone to a man understanding their roles offensively and defensively. And it's been a welcomed change. Again pundits, fans and opposition fans saying its been a long time since Arsenal played this way with this understanding.

There is a reason for that. And I hope we see again today those improvements realised.

Never said anything about shipping him out.
I just want to keep the faith that we've had that we have the best possible manager we could get. If we're losing to Leicester, I'll start questioning that.

For me “seriously questioning” if he is the best possible manager is a stepping stone to shipping him out.

I’m fully on board with project Arteta and very very far away (one or two seasons) from using this type of terminology. The odd defeats here and there won’t change anything for me. My personal opinion as always, there is no right or wrong here.

100%.

I think our fans are some of the worst. Very entitled and moany.
Agree. It's a plus for Arsenal having no crowds and a big minus for teams like Liverpool where the home crowd is so intimidating. A study done in Germany is showing that it's have a significant effect on both results and refereeing.

My mind is struggling with an internal battle, to pay or not to pay, that is the question.

My wish for today is that we win the game and play some sick, flowing attacking football with lots of combination. Like we did against them when Emery was in charge.

For those who are wondering whether they should pay or not, from what I have heard the stream is very poor, for example at HT there is no analysis whatsoever, you just see the pitch live and at the end it's the same.

Nowhere near worth £15.

Also I fully expect nothing less than a win today. Arteta has his £50M midfielder in, full week of training and two games under his belt and also for a long time has a fully fit squad to pick from.

A loss or draw here would be a worry if we have hopes of top 4.

Having watched the quality of English punditry I'd market that as a plus, if I'm being honest.

Would love to see Xhaka/Elneny + Partey and Ceballos today, but I don't think we'll get to see that until some weeks from now.

If we're not looking for a midfield 3, at the very least it may be the time to try and play Auba central to get someone like Saka at LW who has a good pass on him.

Leno
Bellerin Luiz Gabriel Tierney
Xhaka Partey Ceballos
Pepe Auba Saka

Would like to see something like that but obviously Auba will start outwide so hopefully it’s Saka central in place of Xhaka or Ceb.
