Let’s say that in a parallel universe, Xhaka realise’s that he’s vulnerable where he’s stood admiring the spherical beauty of the football, next to an opposing player who would have him on toast on one leg, and decides to drop off a few yards... The ball comes over and although getting skinned, he’s buys himself enough time to get something on the ball and clear the danger.... How many tactical geniuses on here would be lauding his exceptional improvisation when deciding to break the press and try and nullify the dangerous run instead? How about absolutely nobody?

Why is it when I say that Auba needs to take people on I get “that’s not his game” and “you can’t expect Auba to do that” as a response, but the same people say we need to bin Xhaka because he’s slow and doesn’t dribble, rather than adapting their argument to suit Xhaka's playing style.

Auba is one of the best in the world at the most important thing in football....scoring goals
What is Xhaka one of the best in the world at? Pointing & doing nothing I suppose. So yeah great comparison. Why tf would anyone cut slacks for a bang average, mediocre bum of a player like him?

& yeah don't come up with crap that only you believe in. You & your cult leader have got wrecked enough these days

I’ve gone over his strengths so many times in this thread already. Go watch some Xhaka compilation videos on youtube and see for yourself. Also, do some research on the praise he’s got from his club and national teammates and managers.

If you refuse to acknowledge Xhaka’s strengths then you’re blinded by an agenda.

The fact that you bring youtube videos & comments from people as an actual argument sums you up.
Your own opinion doesn’t justify anything.

Comparing an above average passer with a billion holes in his game to one of the best strikers in the world:rofl:

Comments from experienced professionals.

I’m not going to ask you to rewatch every game Xhaka had. Compilation videos are the easy form of research. Not completely accurate I agree, but what other method do you suggest I can use to convince you that Xhaka is a great player?

See? Your replies suggest to me that you don’t want to be convinced. You have an opinion that’s been influenced by an agenda and you’re stubborn to change it. You won’t even consider opposing views and arguments. In my view, trying to convince people like you is like flogging a dead horse. I end up wasting my time for no reason.

Experienced professionals do not call bad players out in public.

There is a compilation video of all stupid things Xhaka did which would be a good watch for anyone looking for something funny to watch. If I show you that, will you accept that Xhaka is good for nothing?

We already watch all the matches. We do not have to re-watch them. We watch our attack getting slowed down because of him. We have watched our creativity slide down ever since he replaced Cazorla because the only way Xhaka knows to attack is to pass the ball to wing backs. Everytime he has someone try to press him, he passes it back to our defense or GK which gives ample time for our opponents to settle down. I already pointed out in some thread that if we do not learn to attack through middle, it won't take long for teams to identify that our only attacking channel is through Auba and block that route. That has already started happening.

You can make a player fails compilation of every player, including Messi or CR7.

As for your last point, he is following instructions and playing to the system he’s been instructed to do. He is capable of playing through the middle. Instead he’s been supporting the wingbacks because that’s the tactics. Wingbacks are the ones being tasked with the creative role.
I do agree that it needs to change. Xhaka is capable of creative plays if Arteta allows him the creative freedom to do so.

Literally what we've been trying to tell you for so long. Your love for Xhaka when there is no logic behind it is just astonishing & nothing can change your view

You are the real agenda merchant here dude:lol:

I acknowledge that Xhaka is slow and avoids dribbling. I do not see it as a terrible thing because I am also aware of his strengths that make up for it. This is what you refuse to acknowledge, or even contemplate.

I already said he's an above average passer but his shortcomings are too big & obvious. But then again no point talking to an agenda merchant

And you can make a great compilation for Mustafi too. Getting the point there? Overall, compilations are useless way to prove a player's worth?

He has been given those instructions because he is not good at playing through the middle. Arteta is the 4th manager. All managers for some weird reason suddenly changed their tactics and asked him to play to the wings?

Auba is better at his strengths than Xhaka. Aubameyang is capable of being a golden boot striker in the PL while Xhaka has a nice range of passing but isnt necessarily world class at it compared to others in the league.

Also, his drawbacks are quite noticeable for a CM, especially as they are more involved in the match and take more touches etc. A striker is a specialist position and if you stick Aubameyang up there and supply him he will do his job over the course of a season. Xhaka hasnt proven hes a man to build a team around.

I’m pretty sure Ceballos has outperformed him in every offensive and defensive stat going since he arrived, without being particularly great himself.

Elneny has outperformed him since his return from loan, despite being just okay also.

And we’ve added Partey who’s better at just about everything.

I’m ok with Xhaka playing a support role
but the bar is wherever you want it to be.

No that’s only since Arteta came in. Under Emery Xhaka formed a great partnership with Torreira and Özil through the middle in 2018-2019. That midfield was doing well. Xhaka’s stats were amongst the best in the league in his position.

You underrate Xhaka. Xhaka’s main drawback is that he’s slow. On the other hand; he’s a great passer, he’s intelligent, has good positioning, is a leader, has a good long shot, draws fouls, dictates tempo etc.
This is when he plays through the middle.
