Seeing as he's probably going to get more chances at first team level thought he deserved a proper thread. Will come up with a better title when there's more to talk about.

I’ve heard a lot about this guy and seen a lot of fret over him trying to force a move out recently (if I’ve got the correct yute?)

Those 20 mins in Europa league is the most I’ve seen of him tbh.

Bizarre to say as he was up against a pretty poor side and was barely involved but his attitude to run in behind and point to where he wanted the ball was nice to see rather than seeing Laca just stood around looking upset.

Hope we can see more of him as time goes on!

Ditto. He didn't get the service that his movement demanded. He's clearly very agile and strong and I've heard he's technically good. We should give him the rest of the group stage Europa games and loan him in January after he signs a new contract of course!

Hope he gets more chances. He is a good talent we need to see more what he can offer.

Get him to pen that contract, there seems to be a lot of interest in him. At very least a good business team would get 10 M for him.

This is going to be big praise but has something of an anelka about him. Fast agile, technically very good, cool infront of goal.

Only thing that's going to hold him back is his attitude and mentality. If he's smart he'll stay at arsenal and become th CF we've been looking for...the cream always rises to the top.

How does his hold-up play and overall game compare to Eddie’s @MutableEarth ?
Short answer: he is better at it.

Longer answer: Balogun has better dribbling and technical ability while Nketiah has had to work smarter in order to play the same way. Nketiah dribbles into space well but Balogun is better in tighter areas and is capable of retaining the ball. Ergo, he is better at it.

I would argue that Balogun is marginally more promising but that he has a way to go before he eclipses Nketiah, a player who is always game.

Nketiah is a goal scorer though and that should not be ignored. Now or January would be a great time to give Balogum regular football on loan.

Physically, he looks more than ready.

That said, Rashford and Greenwood made a big, early impact as youngsters for united. Foden is for City; James and Hudson Odoi did for Chelsea. Of course we've had Saka and Martinelli. I'm not saying that Balogun is in that bracket, but with Lacazette probably gone on the summer, maybe Balogun can see a route into the team. He wouldn't leave here and join a bigger team and Sheff and Brentford probably look a loaf more unattractive now!

Was nice to see a striker of his profile up top. Has a good build and is still very mobile. Didn't do much imo but it was 20 minute cameo when the game was done. Let's see what he can do with more substantial chances (should he sign a new deal).

It was an unspectacular abd pretty anonymous senior debut but two things stood out. His burst of pace in the box to try and win the ball back and his hold up play and strength with his back to goal. Very brief moments but two traits our other forwards could do with

If he does sign, it makes our CF situation very interesting indeed.

Auba - Laca - Nketiah - John-Jules - Balogun (you can add Martinelli and make it 6 too). Looking beyond the two experienced heads and that's a hugely beefed up selection of young, promising forwards. Balogun's words after his debut really intrigued me - I'm paraphrasing but he basically said he deserved the opportunity . That's real confidence there.

There'll have to be some hard decisions on who to let go. Think Nketiah's the most vulnerable as he has the most specialised game in comparison to the others and lacks in areas that they excel, comparatively speaking. That said, I'd be really reluctant for him to go, just because he has the endeavour to be a top striker and has already improved his all-round game beyond what I believed him to be capable of when I first saw him. He'll prove in time he's not just a poacher and could end up making us eat our words should he leave. That said, I think Balogun's a slightly better talent and could usurp him through simply being more technically capable and matching Nketiah's drive.

John-Jules will have a tough time aswell. I think he's potentially the most complete of all the strikers but he's gonna be a bit of a slower burner IMO and he doesn't score as much as the others. He'll be a far better hold-up man than Laca for sure, and his all-round play is fantastic (can play as a #10 if needed).

Then there's Martinelli, the CF who wants to be a wide forward. I think he can conceivably make either role work, especially in Auba's modified LW role. He's a really clever and industrious talent IMO, and I think he's on his way to the top.

All this however is moot if Balogun doesn't sign after all. Have to say though, after this debut, I'm more positive than I was at the start of the year.

Balogun is just a better prospect than Nketiah. Bigger, stronger and faster.

Better dribbler and not so far off in terms of movement and finishing. He also has better shooting outside the box.

Nketiah just looks like a pure poacher with limited hold up ability, link up play and not very good dribbler.

I like Khayon Edwards a lot. I think he can be something special if it all comes together for him.

John Jules is another interesting one. Can be a complete player with a good engine too. Jules I think is like Joe Willock.

Good prospects, but not really spectacular at anything. But have the raw physical and technical attributes to be big contributors if it all comes together for them.
