We are in a **** position not because Wenger was sacked, but because too much changed too quickly and some bad decisions were made upstairs.Wenger wasn’t going to stop that from happening.
He would’ve signed better players though. He wouldn’t have signed all the Kia bums, he wouldn’t have signed Pepe, Torreira, Guendouzi, Saliba etc and NOT used them.

With Wenger we would be around top 4 today, EASILY.

Some of you just can’t admit it,
Wenger wasn’t physically up to it anymore. To want him here now and endure the **** show upstairs would be abuse. You can speculate all you want. We could also speculate whether Freddie would have done better if he were given more time. Or whether Emery was sacked too soon—after all we only just missed out on 4th with him... Nostalgia thread and nothing more imo.

He reached the EL semi and 6th I think in his last season, we were better than Atletico but Kos cost us, that was probably his worst performing team.

Season before that we won the FA Cup and finished 5th.

Nobody since has even matched the Wenger decline. Wenger only had Auba for 6 months too.

I wanted Arteta but this is the worst football we have ever seen. These are also the worst results we’ve ever seen.

Even Moyes is 5th . Took over a worse club, worse team, and a club with historical problems. Don’t see him saying give me 5 years and 25 new players to show something.

The league is the poorest it’s been, give Wenger the 300M we have wasted and we would be top 4.

Some of you just won’t allow yourself to admit it .

The club and team needed a change. If Wenger was here now we would be about 6th/7th. Wenger was slowly declining with time. That decline would have likely continued.

Nowhere near like this though.

Emery finished 5th. He was sacked when he was 8th in the league. The people that say Arteta needs time and players are the same ones that say Emery needed gone after finishing 5th and EL final. No consistency.

The PL is not poor. It's more competitive now than it's ever been. Wenger did his best work when there was us and United.

The minute things got more competitive we struggled. Blame money. Blame whatever you like. We needed change.

It was time for him to go though, I didn’t want him to stay, he needed a change as much as us. Things got stale.

Wenger wanted to leave a season earlier but the club asked him to stay on.

Wenger was done as a top of his game manager. But Arteta is basically AVB mk 2.

This squad is much better than Wenger's last squad. He'd have us challenging with Partey and Gabriel. The big failure the club had was never finding someone he respected and trusted like Dein to take some of the pressure off of him and help him in the market so he could focus on coaching. If Wenger walked into this team January 1st, it would finish no worse than 6th IMO.

Emery was sacked too late. Bottling 4th from the position we were in with 6 games left against the opposition we were gifted should have seen him sacked right after the EL Final. It set the club back YEARS and it was down to arrogance and mismanagement.

We won't be playing this God awful football. That's for sure. And we wouldn't be 15th but we'd have been hovering above midtable but just outside the top four.

Under Wenger, we were becoming stagnant, but now we're actually regressing.

It would be the same but with better football.

The board were already looking at the future so didn't support Wenger in his last seasons. He must have known the board had abandoned him.

Wenger should have resigned after the FA cup. Should have told the board to fcuk off.

If the board wanted Wenger to continue after two seasons, they should have supported him.

We'd be playing much better football, hovering near the top of the table, and fans would be at his throat for not being 10 points ahead of the rest of the teams when everyone is so ****.

In a perverse way I'm satisfied, not happy but satisfied that things turned out the way they did that season.

Emery was not a good fit for this club. Even if we finished 4th that year, he would have taken us backwards. However if he did, the club would. NEVER have sacked him no matter how bad things got from then on.

I can easily imagine us being where we are now under Emery but his backers and the club shouting "But he finished 4th last season and took us to the CL, Give him time!!!".

Talk all you want about what manager would want this job, we're awful. But this is a club that backs its people once they get something in return. Arteta would have been gone by now at any other premier league top club but that FA cup is keeping him safe. If an Allegri or Conte were to come here and deliver top 4 or a European trophy, they might as well set out a lawn chair at London Colney and relax for the next two years.

Hell if Di Matteo had won us the Champions League instead of Chelsea, the bloke would have a job for the next 5 years minimum.

Unlikely since he would've got Zaha, Thomas etc. that he wanted that summer with CL money.

The players wouldn't have made a difference, it's the manager himself. He wasn't a good fit for the club. How many Real Madrid managers got sacked despite having a whole host of talent available? Same with Chelsea.

So then what makes you think new players would've a difference with Wenger?
