This isn't true. Martinelli has stated himself in multiple interviews that he prefers playing out wide on the left and that's his favoured position.

He cut his teeth as a futsal player. He’s not someone you can easily restrict in that way.

I just know from what I saw of him as a striker under Emery vs what I’ve seen from him as a winger under Arteta, the difference in impact is substantial.

Show me the interviews, please.

"I really like playing on the left end," Gabriel Martinelli told Marca.

Speaking during a remote guest appearance on popular Brazilian Youtube channel Desimpedidos, Martinelli admitted he felt his qualities best suited a position out wide, with more space to attack into forward areas.

'I like to play open and I play quite centrally, but I prefer to start wide,' said Martinelli"

Saka on fire. Laca our top scorer in the league. Auba with a brace in his last start. ESR proving vital to our attack. Pepe looking like a £72M player. Gabigol’s time is coming, our attack on a whole looks better and he’ll find his flow soon.

Too much players in his positions and I don't think Arteta will give him a run like he did for the others. I alway had the impression that Arteta don't rate him as well, but even if he rates his season is still the next.

He also said he doesn't like playing with his back to goal like a classic number 9, he likes facing the goal and making runs behind. Makes sense that he prefers being wide.

It’s not that he doesn’t rate him. I just feel he doesn’t think he’s ready yet and doesn’t feel he can rely on him.
Yet he can rely on sideways pass merchants willian and el neny. Willian done nothing since Fulham. Arteta has no clue
