I nearly fell asleep watching this game it was played so slow and all the back passing, As soon as we sped up the play we got the equaliser,
I don't know why we have to keep playing this slow game all the time.

We were just ok, nothing great and nothing horrible, we were a bit insipid though.

Arteta-iners will tell you we "dominated" (because possession) and played well, created a lot and should've stomped them, but the truth is that our overall play was mostly flat, we had what, two shots on target? They had four btw.

Arteta outers will tell you that we played really badly and should be beating a team like this by three or four, however if Auba takes his chances we probably win despite not being the best.

Benfica did their homework and parked everyone behind the ball and looked to counter, and it worked against us pretty much exactly the same way it has all season. We don't move the ball quick enough and we don't have any ideas and just start passing it backwards. Xhaka in particular just has no idea what to do against this sort of defense.

They also did an excellent job closing up on Saka and eliminating him from the play. Scored but barely got free the rest of the match.

The only thing that has broken tight defenses for us this year is Saka-ESR interplay and they were on opposite wings.

All that said, if Auba taps in that sitter this is a win and everything is all good.

Thought David Luiz was excellent today, barely put a foot wrong.

The penalty went off ESR's body first, and shouldn't have been called. Bad reffing break yet again.

Asked if we've improved from this time last year, Keown says we've changed from a back 3 to a 4! Hoddle says we now have a system. Neither said we've improved.
