Mikel Arteta: Aston La Vista To The Title?

Red cafe is probably a boring forum when they cant talk about titles.
It’s weird.
How the mighty have fallen. These United fans haven’t had even a single micro second for us since 2006 apart from mocking and making fun of us because they were still competitive winning major trophies etc.

Now since Fergie left they have become what Arsenal became since 2006, “Top 4 is a trophy”.

United fans can’t brag against Man city anymore, can’t brag against Liverpool anymore, Can’t brag against Chelsea anymore.. Arsenal the only low hanging fruit that United fans can chat about due to us being even more worse than them. 😊

It’s a psychological / mental thing. Always look at those below or closer to your own social / financial status in order to make your self feel good. United fans ain’t got a leg to stand on at the moment against City, Liverpool and Chelsea.

Arsenal are the weeping boys that United fans can now look at and say to themselves “We are doing poorly but at least we are not as bad as Arsenal”.

Once we become a real tangible rival to them or if they ever get back into to challenging for those major honours once again before us then you will never see or hear from this poster on here.

But until then, this United fan will keep adding to traffic on here. There is nothing to brag about for Man United in recent years, they have a lot of time to socialise away from their own house.

The 2 worst run big clubs in the league laughing at one another to make themselves feel better. Wouldn’t have seen this coming 20 years ago.

I'm not 'bragging' about Man Utd though? I watch football for entertainment, not to 'brag' about it. Are you 12 years old?

I don't think Man Utd are particularly good, we've been sh*t since Fergie retired. But it could be worse, we could be Sp**s or Everton or...

Yep it's pathetic, imagine spending time on a forum that isn't even the team you support.

Putting hours into this sh!t....weak.

I've ignored that f*cker anyway and frankly I ignore any non Arsenal fan on here that gets ahead of him/herself.

Going back to this post from the weekend: @El Duderino is bang on the money - what Ole does with United should have absolutely nothing to do with Arteta's performances and results with Arsenal.

Ole, like Arteta and like Lampard - are not good enough to manage United, Arsenal and Chelsea respectively. We are huge clubs which (should) demand success, we're not training schools for rookie coaches.

@HairSprayGooners has an agenda - he just won't accept that Arteta isn't a good enough manager to lead Arsenal.

Chelsea are ruthless. Lampard, who is an actual legend at Chelsea - an incredible player; got sacked for not performing. They then quickly bring in Tuchel and win the Champions League a few months later. Do you think any Chelsea fan is unhappy that Lampard was sacked? No chance.

Ole scored one of the most important goals in Man Utd's history, winning us our second European Cup because of it. But he's living off that - it's why 50-60% of the Utd fanbase still believe in Ole. He has lots of credit in the bank.

Now - Arteta. He wasn't even a legend as a player, was he? He was a mediocre-to-good player, nothing special. Really boring man. Yet he's still got the media and fans like @HairSprayGooners behaving as if he's the man to bring long term success to Arsenal - based on absolutely no evidence whatsoever.

It's bizarre.
You appointed two 'proven' managers before ole and they failed miserably, whats your explanation for that? I think experience is highly overrated in this game, most managers with a track record, with evidence behind them have merely taken control of top clubs with little competition. Arsenal, Utd and Sp**s fans are all going absolutely bat **** over Tuchel and words like 'ambition' and 'proven', Tuchel had won very little before his recent champions league and i dont even count ligue une wins because its PSG and a bunch of farmers. Furthermore the CL is a cup competition if you don't think there's a significant element of luck in the Chelsea win, you're a fool. Was Tuchel 'proven' when Chelsea hired him?

The two most successful managers in the champions league over the past 10-15 years are Zidane and Guardiola, when did those wins occur? When they were both young and inexperienced. Have they won since? No. Mourinho's first CL win came when he was a mouthy little upstart at Porto, he's been garbage since 2014. If you choose the facts correctly, then fresh ideas become the name of the game and not a 'track record'. It seems to me that in many cases past glories are not an indication that successes will continue to come. People can go on about Allegri and Conte all they like but they should ask them selves what the hell anything either of those two managers has ever done has to do with the challenges they would face at Arsenal. Arsenal fans and possibly Utd fas should look around at who has a track record of performing the kind of rebuild job that is necessary to win leagues, to win champions leagues and I would say there is only one candidate- Klopp.

That people seem to pine after the kind of manager merry-go-round that Chelsea have been a part of is bizarre to me, firstly in Arsenal's case because it will absolutely not be sufficient to take us to where we dream of going again, we need someone with vision and intelligence to overturn the inequities that separate us from Utd and the money clubs but in both of our cases because our recent history was built on more than a corporate, hire'em fire'em style of decision making, we grew things that were organic and that will last forever, isn't that what we all want again?

Crucify me all you want, I still think Arteta could take us to leagues. He's absolutely infuriated me at times with certain decisions and I don't think what he wants best matches what we have in the squad but there are a couple of aspects of Arteta that I find intriguing- he's extremely, undeniably persuasive, to get the job in the first place and inspire the kind of affection a lot of the players have for him, he got Auba and Fol to sign. He's also extremely self confident/stubborn, he won't be swayed by the media storm that has surrounded him and he's intelligent- I hope that he will evolve his abilities to the required level for the Arsenal job. It's also worth remembering what difficult circumstances he took the club over in. He and Arsenal absolutely have a significant chance of falling flat on their face. However, I do think it's worth taking risks on people you think show promise, for a club like Arsenal I even think it's absolutely necessary.

YES! Here we go again, the transfer window isn't opened yet but Arsenal are already pissing us off. Arteta keeps saying he has the full backing of the Kroenkes that they'll back the team up financially this summer but here we go again.

Back to reality... Imagine thinking we have 250M and being outsmarted by Villa. The reality is that BS is to calm down fans and we Will spend cheap as always with useless players like Willian and hearing Arteta half season how good that player is and how good owners are until tío Arteta realize that even our youngsters are better than his new shiny deadwood.

I was criticised a bit by someone here at A-M (can’t remember who) when I asked aloud why Villa would let go of Grealish to us for anything other than crazy money while they see Arsenal as a competitor they have ambitions to overtake, a bit like Everton. At the time I thought about it, paused, and considered maybe I was being a bit harsh on Arsenal and where we are going. Now we have this Buendia transfer saga and I have to say we do have to take Villa seriously as another club that can drop us down another position in the PL table unless this club gets real serious and gets real focused on this transfer window.

(yes, I know Everton finished lower in the end but they are a legit competitor for PL table position now)

One thing I've noticed since going back into pubs and having conversations with fellow Arsenal supporters is how many of them still believe in Arteta despite us having our worst campaign in 30 years. Why is this?

It's astounding that the same people who were strongly criticizing Emery and Wenger firmly believe this inexperienced manager can lead us in the right direction.
