Edu & Vinai: The Dream Team

It’s not really knee jerking on the back of the season we have had and knowing the volume of transfer outs and ins we need to get done this summer, with added complications of Euros and Copa America to work around. I’m sure if you thought a bit more about this you would likely reconsider a bit.

Yeah I get the state of the club is a mess and there's a ton of work to optimize the squad. Also understand that most teams are broke and have taken loans to stay liquid. Every other club is trying to do the same thing we are trying to do as well. There's a difference between dithering and having a valuation on a target. We already bid for him if reports are true and were unwilling to match Villa's counter offer.

Financial rationalisation does not come into this based on promises of Arteta and Josh Kroenke of an exceptional transfer window. Best not to go at fans with this, but instead, if anything, the hype and promises driven by the club itself.

Why would you take anything they said at face value? Post super league fiasco, they would've been crucified by the fans if they said anything they didn't want to hear. They aren't going to force the issue until a level of desperation forces their hand and that's not going to happen this early in the window. They literally paid up for Partey on deadline day last summer.

I'd be happy if they just took a more active role this summer. Nothing is going to change anything at the club until the fans are back at the Emirates, and they make themselves heard in front of all the clowns themselves, from the players to the directors box. The past 12 months of mediocrity week after week has allowed a level of complacency to set in at all levels of the club and nobody's f**king held accountable for this current mess. A single transfer window isn't going to fix anything.

It’s not me taking them at face value. It is about things coming to a head where fans will feel lied to and the season will start with a lot of tension in the Emirates as a result. The atmosphere at the beginning of next season would be very toxic, with Arteta and Josh Kroenke only having themselves to blame.

That is inevitable I suspect.

To be honest I think the current and previous managers have failed to understand the psychology of fans and the way it benefits the players. Arteta wants the fans back, but he spends so much time gearing the team to play the in our own third that it would just bring frustration amongst the fan base which would transmit to the players. It's only a few seasons a go where the entire crowd had their hearts in their mouths everytime we played out from the back.

Every Arsenal fan can see what the squad needs. They will receive negativity of they don't do the obvious.

Tierney needs a back up.
We need a first choice rb.
We don't need CBS. No fan would bat an eyelid at Saliba given a chance.
We all know Guendouzi, Torreria and Xhaka need to be moved on.
We know Elneny isn't good enough.
We know that Partey needs a genuine partner.
We know that we need 2 additional midfielders as back ups, so that makes 3 in total.
We know ESR and Saka need help, so an attacking midfielder is needed.
We know Lacazette needs to be sold and we need a cf to come in with different attributes to Auba.

Every fan knows this. It's not up for debate. It has literally never been more obvious. So if they even have an inkling of understanding the fans, buying what the squad needs, not what Arteta wants, would create a positive atmosphere amongst the fans. If Arteta was to fail and be sacked in Decemeber, but the squad was complete, I don't think fans would be worried.

League is very weak
The Sp**s and Conte debacle speaks on our situation, no? A top manager, a winner, who couldn’t/wouldn’t join Sp**s because they didn’t give him what he wanted to compete.

Wenger has left and we’ve not employed a top manager. Emery is mid level, and Arteta is a total newbie, both work under whatever restrictions you give them.

No difference between Arsenal and Sp**s.

There isn't really, but in times like this, I just console myself with the fact we've still won more than them since Wenger left.

I agree with pretty much everything. This is going to be a difficult summer. There's still 2 and a half months until the season starts and about 5 weeks to pre season.
All the rumours are targetting an AM,CM and RB which is exactly what we need to improve the first 11. Beyond that it's trimming the squad. The CB links of course make no sense unless we've already given up on Saliba.

Edu has to have some sort of distance from Arteta. Per is part of this technical committee too and quite frankly he's been very proactive since the season ended regarding the academy. After what happened this past season, both Edu and Per shouldn't be giving into whatever Arteta and his bum coaching staff wants. His demands are very short-termish and they need to be executing long terms plans for the team too.

Slight aberration in that Spuds did try and fail with Mourinho, but this was not peak Mourinho who in the past would have ensured he had leverage over Levy before taking the job.

Would You like to become Arsenal head recruiter? Literally thats what we need, that easy to identify using logic but instead we see our stupid board losing the most talented player for a reasonable price with PL experiencie to Aston freaking Villa.

Largely agree but you give the fans too much credit, if we are doing poorly enough for Arteta to get sacked in December I guarantee most of the fan base will be absolutely raging at every section of the hierarchy and be generally despondent. If we bought a new cf I'd also prefer Auba & Laca out and Folarin given genuine opportunities, Auba's footballing relationship with the team is absolutely lifeless now, I don't think he'll be back in the form we need him to be in again.

Arsenal want to sell Xhaka for 15m but ready to buy Neves for 35m. Can't Edu learn from the team selling their player for 35m and raise yours as well so you break even on the sale?

Edu has only signed Runnarson and Partey completely by himself. Am I right in understanding that Gabriel was put in place by Raul who already had a relationship with Lille?

So basically he hasn't managed to sign a player without a contact or release clause. It will be interesting to see how he gets a signing over the line. If he does, that is.

Does a technical director oversee everything with transfer bids and personal terms with players? That's where I'm a little confused. Maybe before, but now we have **** Garlick? Will also be interesting with Ruben Neves as his agent is Jorge Mendes, although Mendes was probably his agent when he signed with Wolves.

Garlick was director of football administration at West Brom and he was there for 8 years before he moved to the Premier League. His role is described as "football operations and contract management". He is a qualified Solicitor who specialises in sports law. So in terms of drawing up contracts that where he comes in. In terms of bids and personal terms. I genuinely have no idea who handles that. West Broms record signing is Oliver Burke for 15 million.

Garlick literally has no experience in doing any big deals. Neither does Edu. So yeah it's more like be worried than be excited.

Its worrying that we dont know who makes the bid and wo identifies the players. I seen Edu mention team few times. who is this team? How much does Arteta have a say in who we sign. Who is ahead of the scouting department. The whole thing looks like a mess. With sven and raul we already had too many directions with no clear roles. Im not even sure the roles are clear now. As you say Edu has no experience in bidding for players
