Nuno Tavares: The False #3

I skeptical that he's ever going to be amazing for us because his decision making looks a bit suspect. Definitely can play football though and he's a great athlete so glad he's in the squad.

Doubt he will be a popular member of the squad if he keeps repeating the selfish long shot thing. Saw some bad reactions from players around him. I'm all in for players taking long shots at times. But that was too much over confidence then when clearly so many better options to pass were there. And score was just 1-0. So I'd like to seal the game before trying these speculative shots.

I think at this stage Tavares is more of an entertaining player to watch rather than a good one. Definitely has potential though. Guys an athlete and seems to like to get stuck in, doesn't seem short on self belief either.

Plenty to like but his positional play at times is woeful and he makes some bizarre decisions too

He needs rounding off because he's very raw but in 18 months I think we might have a player on our hands. Decent buy I think.

Maybe

You're wrong, no?
Arteta needs to crack down on the long shots outside of the box. I'm sure that Wenger coached the team to limit them when a better pass was on.
Agree with this (would also add Partey to that), think he also needs to deal with Tierney hoofing the ball all the time and making crosses to nobody. Not sure at what point our LB's became the biggest consumers of our attacks when we have Pepe and Saka barely seeing the ball

The frustrating thing with the recent version of Tierney is that he's actually a bloody good defender, he put in a fantastic defensive performance v. Burnley, but he is getting used like an auxiliary winger which isn't his greatest strength. We need more balance which is where I worry a bit about Tomi and his quality going forward.

Yeah the potential is definitely there though and I think we might've really nailed it with this signing if we can get it out of him.

I'm sure he was signed knowing about his shortcomings (cos the whole of Portugal were talking about them:lol:) so hopefully the plan was to train his decision making and generally the mental aspects of playing that LB role because physically he has it.

Not just the decision to shoot but also the time in the game. It was such bad decision making that I’m not sure it can be coached out of you. It shouldn’t have to be coached out of you because you should never have been doing that.

He needs like specialist one on one coaching, video sessions, psychologists, the full monty. There’s a phenomenal athlete in there though so fingers crossed we can at least flip him or break even during his time here.

love him! granted alot of raw tangibles at this point to develop but he came in way better than the reports lead us believe & taller as well 💯

the run & shot was perfect as did exactly what he described in the first Arsenal interview

I am fast, I am good at shooting with my right foot, but I'm left-footed. I can dribble, improvising. That's my qualities, my technique. I have more qualities and I will find more in this club.

I like a raw player who can talk about his qualities base game honestly like that. It shows he’s at least got faith in them.

I think this guy always put good shift when we play him he really impressive player going forward could end up such a smart signing for only 7M. thankfully he didn't show foul attitude in his first 3 months here.
