League is very weak
Is Aguero even better than Van Nistelrooy? Ian Wright has scored as many goals in nearly as many games too. I don’t see it.

Let’s suck off Aguero because he scored 170 tap ins in an all star time, but came up short when it really mattered.

Not for me.

Chelsea wouldn’t have won 4 titles and the CL without Drogba.

He lead the like and fought the good fight.

When did you start watching Arsenal...was it pre Wenger?

I myself will never financially recover from missing out on 90s football, especially the 1998 World Cup...think that's the best football event of all time, really don't think it will ever be topped either.

Carrick and Brown wouldn’t even make City’s squad team

Pep on Carrick: ''He is one of the best holding midfielders I've ever seen in my life, by far. He's the level of Xabi Alonso and Sergio Busquets.''

If he is on that level in Pep's view then Pep will start Carrick ahead of Rodri or at least good enough to make it to City's team.

Just as Wenger joined. I mainly watched international football, CL football, Serie A on Channel 4, Dutch football late at night on Channel 5 when they would also show these weird soft porn type movies, one minute they are in a castle and the next minute 2 women are having sex.

I was watching Feyenoord once, the commentator said “and here is Robin Van Persie, he is 17, they are saying he is the new Bergkamp, Barcelona and Milan want him but he likes Arsenal, so let’s see”.

Drogba was more than a goal scorer. Turned up for the big times and Aguero can only dream of making such an impact.

Aguero got his tap ins while City were winning 5-0 against West Brom, meh.

Yeah Aguero is a great finisher. That’s it really.

Suarez had the greatest peak of any PL striker after Henry imo.

Again like JT the racism hurts him a bit unfortunately

I think its hard to compare individual players from different era's.

There have been some Worldy players over the years but tbf its easier to look great with a little more time on the ball & in an era when the opposition isnt as tactically aware or structured.

I think the overall level of the teams/squads especially the top 3 is higher now. I also think there are more quality players in all teams throughout the league.

I dont know if VVD is better than JT, Sol or Rio?

What i will agree on is that Michael Carrick was a top player & i would have loved him here👍.

Psychological warfare, big up an opponent up the pressure on him while not giving him any headlines to give him extra motivation. You guys honestly think Carrick is in Busquets class? Or that Pep thinks that. Phil Jackson was great at these type of mind games with opponents where he uses the media to up the expectations on the opponent. You don’t honestly think they tell the press honest answers? Manager quotes are always suspicious to me because they actually try to hide the ball.

What Pep did there is an old expression we have in Farsi roughly translated he gifted Carrick. Couple of watermelons he know has to carry. You compliment some heavily to crush them under the weight of expectations. Also if he lose he is like how could we win Zidane Carrick was in their midfield. Manager quotes in any sport are typically media and player manipulation

Pep said it when Carrick announced his retirement. Thus, what you said about big up an opponent up the pressure on him is totally invalid point. Even Alonso himself mentioned Carrick was like his level and would be appreciated more in Spain, Alonso said it after he left Liverpool so he had no reason to say it to big up an opponent.

Carrick was GREAT for Utd. That’s not up for debate. Forget what Pep said or didn’t say, Carrick won 5 titles and a European Cup for Ferguson.
He was great I just don’t class him at Busquets or Xavi Alonso or even Fernandinho. Again this very subjective one way or the other which is why I believe you judge the strength of the league based on how pl has fared in European competition. This 3-4 years is the strongest period in terms of performance in Europe since late 70s and early mid 80s. Otherwise we are left comparing opinions of players. If English teams are down then why have we had two all English finals in CL in 3 years when none of the great teams of 90s or 2000s managed it even once? You judge the league in competition in biggest European events otherwise it’s completely subjective with no real way to measure.

You can go around in circles. I’ll say to you Europe was strong between 1990-2015, but there has been a decline elsewhere rather than an uplift in English teams. Serie A has been declining, there are no top Italian teams. Barcelona haven’t built a team so since Pep left, have been disgraceful in recent years. The Real Madrid cycle of Varane, Modric, Kroos, Marcelo etc has come to an end.

In recent Bayern have only been the good CL side outside England.

Your measurements will bring a lot of great players in question too. Then you have the argument that someone like Fernandinho still hasn’t played a CL final despite playing for by far the best English team in recent years, so what does that say?

The level of the champions league was high until about 2015ish, massive decline since then, group stages are watered down and your seeing the same team in and around semis because the rest of Europe has fallen off.

Even this season, an English team will win it, because outside England nearly every team is crap. Barca, Madrid, PSG, Juventus etc all rubbish. It’s Bayern vs England.

I’m just saying you can’t measure the way you are.
