That Diaz deal shows two things. Big deals can come out of nowhere and clubs who say “pay the release clause” shouldn’t always be taken at face value. I won’t start getting anxious until halfway through deadline day (or when we get the dreaded Ornstein tweet).

Interesting that Liverpool have Jota, Salah and Mane yet they’re still strengthening their wide options but some of our fans were against signing a wide player because we have Martinelli/ESR.

Just goes to show how far behind these clubs we really are.

They're signing Diaz now because one of Salah/Mane is leaving in the summer.

There's talk that Minamino and Origi have received bids. Plus the fact Salah, Mane & Frimino are all hitting 30 and running out of contract next year.

I agree though, if we aren't considering Pepe for the team now, we need another wide forward.

Can probably see Salah leaving tbf. When’s his contract up? 2022?

Edit: Just saw it in the post above.

They probably noticed that Diaz represents very good value at that price, he’ll probably fit Klopp’s system like Jota slotted in nicely plus they’re being proactive. A lot to admire from this sort of business.

Part of the reason it's pointless comparing our situation to Liverpools is they're constantly improving. We're miles behind and we're just standing still. Liverpool have 4 top attackers, Minamino is decent enough and are now adding another top attacker.
