Yeah I don't disagree with what you say but ultimately players will not wait 6/7/8 seasons to play CL. Or play in teams that at least mount some kind of challenge.I hear you, but Liverpool had Klopp. An outstanding manager/coach & they bought extremely well.
They are the blueprint & have shown it can be done, but doing it is another thing entirely.
Getting top 4 is so so tough now. Its a much more competitive league.
Let's hope the players use this seasons disappointment as motivation!
It doesn't matter which club you are or who the manager is. You have a short time frame to achieve the goals of players. If you can't do that they start to run contracts down and move. And then you are rebuilding again.
Right now we have a team of an average age of 24. That will decrease abit with Laca and maybe Elneny moving on. Leno too.
This team should be achieving relative success (CL qualification, FA cup of Europa League win) in the next year or two. Then you buy big and hopefully when the team is at their peak age 26-27 is the time you really mount a challenge for the league.
Obviously this is all easier said than done. But if you can't do the first parts above you will struggle with the second and we will forever be in this cycle of never making the next step, selling our best players and trying to buy the next ones.
Man United are ****. But they are never 5-6 seasons out of the CL. Chelsea have their up and down moments but again proven winners over the past 15 years. Never too far away.
We need to get the monkey of the back and get in the CL and start having our name in along with the top teams.
