This is really massive. A win is a must imo. These sort of games, performance usually matters. It's the results that matter.

Arteta will have to learn from his mistakes at Old Trafford. We know the sort of threat Sp**s carry. Their midfield is dogshit. They have Royal, Sanchez, Dier and Sessengnon in their back five.

They'll put 10 men behind the ball and wait for a chink to appear in our amour and they'll exploit it ruthlessly and Son has just come back to form right in time for the derby.

We should have all our players back for this (save for Elneny) barring an injuries in the international break.

Watch it in motion. It was painful. It was a yellow. He exaggerated.
Of course players exaggarate a bit, but I don't think you understand how much this kind of tackle hurts to an unprotected area.

And it was a clear red, every day, it was so hard tackle above the ankle.

"Despite protests by some of the Tottenham players, referee specialist Peter Walton explained on BT Sport why a red card was handed to the full-back.

Walton said: “I don’t think Tottenham or Emerson Royal will have any complaints about this tackle at all. The challenge completely out of context, the actual challenge itself going down the side of the shin - with force - and that’s the main thing.

"Force equals a sending-off offence. It was serious foul play, Anthony Taylor took his time because I don’t think he realised what happened straight in front of him, he’s looked at it and it’s a red card offence."

Upz have you been asleep for the last three years? Stamford Bridge is under our ownership, the last time they beat us there was 2019.

City away is definitely a free hit with that freak Haaland ripping the PL apart :shivering:

Nope, disagree.

What I take from this is that once again, Lokonga’s positioning and off the ball movement leaves a lot to be desired. Partey must not get injured. Lokonga is miles behind in development as a 6. It showed against Utd and it showed against Aston Villa (even though we won).

Lokonga is not a 6

Check out NLD review from the Arsenal Tottenham Fan Podcast.
A glorious day for Arsenal fans is a not so great day for Tottenham fans and that's what we had on Saturday. Join Cal and Rick as they discuss the great goals, the controversial refereeing decisions, the managers' tactics, and all the action from another North London Derby. They also preview upcoming European fixtures for each team and discuss team news for the week. In a new segment called "What the hell is going on out here?" Cal laughs at some of the away team kits he's seen in the Premier League this season and then Rick kicks around the sports washing surrounding the impending World Cup. They close the podcast with a look to next weekend as Tottenham visit fourth placed Brighton and Arsenal host a Liverpool team that has run roughshod over them in their last several visits to the Emirates.

And Martinelli’s reaction was definitely OTT. We’d be fuming if the opposition did that.

The majority of footballers exaggerate contact. What advantage do you think we would have if we were the only club in town where players dusted themselves down and got on with it. Might as well pack up and go home. Next thing we’ll be kicking the ball into touch during an attack every time the opposition asks us to.

It was a little bit of a harsh red but we’ve had plenty of dodgy reds in the past.

Have you forgotten Son running into Holding and exaggerating contact to get him sent off at their place last May? Or his constant diving in the area like he has been sniped?

Nah **** it. It was a stupid challenge from Royal where there was no danger (similar to Holding’s against Son).

And unfortunately neither is Xhaka so we've got a serious problem, imagine if we got Luiz

Villa fans reckon Luiz is better as an 8, although he can play as a 6

Wasn't Luiz a bit of a panic buy anyway? You'd think/hope we were after a more long term target in subsequent windows. But maybe he represents good value

Exactly the point. We love insisting there’s a refereeing conspiracy against us whenever we get a harsh call, I’m merely pointing out that we got a soft call in our favour, the type that if you were on the other side you’d feel quite aggrieved.

So let’s remember that the next time something goes against us.

Be real, even our invincibles wouldn’t win the league if they had to compete against this Man City side.

Invincibles only got 90 points. Man City make it so you have to get 100 points or more to win the league.

Interesting discussion this one, much like the argument made with our team vs the Emirates teams.

I think the invincibles had the quality and versatility to adapt their game to today's standards. Wenger also has the intelligence to quickly adapt as well. Once up to speed I think it would be a shootout between 22/23 City and 03/04 Arsenal for the title, and it would be close I think.
