Was the Arsenal fanbase too hard on Giroud - France's all time leading goalscorer?

Were the fans too harsh on Giroud?

He seemed to have got better after he left us. Fair play to him.
No he didn't. Our fans just abused him and called him a donkey because they thought if you're not Henry, Anelka, Wright, etc. levels, then you're no good. Let's call a spade a sapde, Giroud was good for us and never got the credit he deserved.

The donkey got the same number of goals as the king in less matches. He even has an alibi if you try to argue it was because France wasn't as good as a team during the Henry era, the man makes the current ballon d'or and one of the best strikers of his generation completely redundant

We clearly should have had more faith on him

If Giroud had pace he would have been a really great striker. As it is he was (and is) just a good one.

Maybe we were too hard on him. But he also wasn’t good enough for us for long spells at a time. He got his act together after he left us though and made a great career for himself winning a bunch of trophies. All these things can be true at the same time.

If anything, we were not harsh enough. Sure, he got some nice goals & his overall play when not scoring (which was quite often) was good but he was NEVER a striker to lead the line for a club challenging for the title.

His wastefulness alone cost us not one, but two potential titles in 2014 & 2016.

The two most important ones he won (World Cup & Champions League) were the results of matches his presence had no bearing on whatsoever.

Trademark Giroud
