Comparing Partey, Rice, Caicedo, and Zubimendi: Player Comparison: Thomas Partey vs. Declan Rice vs. Martín Zubimendi vs. Moisés Caicedo | FBref.com

Rice looks to be a level above the rest. Partey next followed by Caicedo. Zubimendi looks a few levels below the others. Of course these are just a few metrics so we shouldn't read too much into them.
Yeah could we also compare caicedo first season to rice first season? Would be weird if rice didnt look better he’s been in the league ages

90m? Lol nope. Walk away.

That is what they are saying. Maybe with crazy incentives and a discount. That is their public position. We knew their number was more than 60, but their real number isn’t 90 unless Sugar Todd at Chelsea gets horny again

Of course. I actually came away impressed with Caicedo. He stoop up to Rice and Partey quite well given he's only 21. He's near their level. It's Zubi who is really dissapointing.

This is why release clauses are not so easily or often paid.

"However, the Blues are still refusing to pay his buyout clause to avoid infringing on Financial Fair Play regulations, according to Mackrell Sport.

Chelsea are pushing to agree on a transfer fee for the player to allow them to register the deal across the years in his contract. For example, if Chelsea were to sign Enzo for a transfer fee worth £70m, they could register his transfer fee as £7m per season on a seven-year deal.

If Chelsea were to pay his buyout clause (which is what Benfica wants) worth £120m, they will be mandated to record the full amount paid on their books for that financial year. That would immediately raise a red flag with FFP regulations and Chelsea could be heavily sanctioned.

Simply put, transfer fees can be split and recorded as yearly expenditures but buyout clauses cannot.
This was exactly what Chelsea did in the transfer of Mykhailo Mudryk.

Unless Benfica can agree to let Fernandez go for a transfer fee, this deal may never see the light of day."

This was why we paid more than the release clause for Torreira if I remember correctly.

And why Caceido at £75m over 5 years is way better for the accounts than paying Zubimendis £50m release clause

It's not difficult to understand why Brighton are digging in. They do not have much time left to find a replacement. You feel this could have been sorted in a different manner early in the window, but it seems our sights were on Mudryk then.

I also think we would have preferred to keep this quiet, but the agents wanted otherwise...

Incredibly unlikely in addition to Brighton needing to find a replacement this late, fail to prepare prepare to fail unfortunately Edu didn't learn from last summer or Jan.

feel like this would of been, potentially, easier to do earlier in the window.
Not sure why they’ve waited so long to make the decision to go for him.
Did they not know extent of Enenys injury, or was it Caicedo changing agents?

They were always planning to sell him in the summer. It's better for Arsenal that he tries to force himself out. Otherwise they would only entertain even more ridiculous fee.

Arsenal seemed to want Mudryk, and even Athletic said that once that went out of the window, they had much more money to spend. Now Elneny is injured long-term again, like when they tried Luiz for cheap. But now they have more money available when they have Trossard in his place.

What’s interesting is we obviously have a good relationship with Brighton as we bought two players of them recently that we’re quite smooth transactions

Edu has already overachieved. He is not going anywhere. He is still gonna get praise for two signings this window
I dont think so
He never had any backup apart from douglas luiz
Got in a defender when cm is a priority
Lets see how many games does the new cb start where as new cm would have rotated frequently
We all knew we are one cm injury away from disaster

We won't have for long, because even many Brighton fans seem to think that Edu and co. have tapped his agents up to kick up a fuzz.

Doesn't maybe matter that much though at this point. Not sure we would go for their other players. Mac Allister and Mitoma are good of course, but there should be other options.

Being in this position so late in the window is 100% on Edu.

He needs upgrading in the summer. This isn’t even the second or third time we’ve been left critically short due to his poor planning.

That defender has played 21 games as a DMF in Serie A, and 16 games as a CB. Thiago Motta played him as DMF. But he is a CB of course.

If push comes to shove, there is always possibility to play Trossard or ESR in the LCM position and Xhaka as DMF. Or Zinchenko or White as DMF.
