Edu & Vinai: The Dream Team

Do you think the club have social media specialists that gathers data on how the fans react to news on social media? I know that United have this type of thing. This is the only thing that could prevent the Jorginho move because clearly Edu is not capable of reading the ****ing room.

I mean he's in a lose lose in terms of the fans really.

He signs that guy for 80 mil he gets clowned, if he works out it will be Arteta's talent ID lol. His contacts got the Trossard thing done it's not Arteta closing the deals out here you know.

Maybe ask yourselves why there is only ever 1 or 2 targets for any given position in world football instead of immediately coming for Edu.

I really hope not. Fan sentiment is literally the worst way to run a club. Do what’s right and the fans will come. Simples.

Sure, but it's getting toxic either way, no on wants another Chelsea reject that we're going to have in the squad collecting wages one year from now. I really hope this is a move to get Brighton board to the table. I really can't see anything positive with this move other than having a body in midfield.

Yeah best case scenario we’re only doing this because we’re actually confident of getting Caicedo done and thought we’d just mindf*ck Todd in the meantime. That would actually get rated.

Ok, looks like its a done deal.. so hopefully he's not going to turn into another Cech or Willian

The one thing that can be said, is it looks like they weren't willing to be held to ransom by Brighton over Caicedo.. which is a good thing

We've gotten in 3 players... two who have good Premier League experience, and the third a proven international centre half..

We should have done business with legitimately any other club though, that's the issue I have.

Could have sign Danilo or even Shelvey if it's just for "backup" just anyone except from that club. We choose to do our business too late and force ourselves into panic buy. Literally sending wrong message across by hosting their retirement camp yet again.

If Jorginho is underwhelming, gonna see the term "Agent Jorginho" brought up

Think you're in for a surprise.

Jorginho is underwhelming yes, but I think he'll fit. Has the presence and awareness to play as a lone six in our system, and with the assistance of our inverting fullbacks and dropping 8's (Xhaka and Ode), he'll have enough to work with in both possession and progression of the ball.

He'll also allow us to substitute TP5 sooner in matches, and we wont lose much of our control.

The real question is what this signing means for Caicedo and Rice. If we still get them both in the summer, then this is decent business done.

I will certainly back him after I get over the disappointment of missing out our main targets yet again.

There's no doubt he will be a useful squad member with his experience, adds to depth to our Europa games but I'm not sure how much he will improve the squad with his limited pace.

Apart from that superb season under Tuchel where he finished 3rd in Ballon d'Or for winning the CL, before that he was pretty much underwhelming most of the time. I remember how disappointed peeps here were when we were link to him seasons back. He's not even rated highly by Chelsea fans and how pleased they are because we are paying for 14mil for a 31 year old player with 4 months left on contract

Edu did better than last winter that's for sure. Brought in bodies for reasonable money + Jorginho is a short-term option, all signings complete the squad and will help us maintain the challenge.

The context and the missed-out targets leave a sour taste as well as the feeling he's DoF's ultimate punching bag/cuckold but ah well... I'll leave him be for now.

I'm not sure what Vinai actually does but I think we maybe need to have a look at Edu's position. Sanlehi certainly got things done but got some wrong players. Edu is activating buy out clauses (Fresneda) and offering big money but we can't get our first choice targets. If Arteta is being kept then maybe we need to balance this partnership. I'd be horrified if Arteta fixated on one player who if missed causes us to trolley dash on deadline day. Wenger got a lot of heat having do so much with a lot less. Adams sounds like he was right about Edu. I hope these are wrinkles and nothing more

Don't forget Saliba and Saka's extensions are still on the line.

The way the club managed Saliba was so, so, stupid. We should've never been in this position.

Yeah Edu needs the sack tbh.

Built a squad which is only 5 points clear of City (albeit with a game in hand), and has completely bottled this Jan.

He needs to spend £100m on a player that nobody had heard of 6 months ago or find another job imo. How can we expect to compete with City for the title when we’ve only signed Trossard, Kiakow and Jorginho this window? All for embarrassingly low fees as well.

Particularly irritating given City have taken advantage by loaning one of their best players to Bayern Munich.

I'm actually worried about the summer. Our midfield is old. Xhaka, Partey, Elneny, Jorginho, not counting Sambi here, you know why.

We need big investments in the summer. If I'm in the CL, I want to try win it and not only be happy to participate.

The good thing is we saved money for Rice. Maybe Caicedo can do us a favour and tank his value in the second half of the season.
