Manchester City’s Financial Doping

It’s a good point that essentially the PL has so many big clubs that tbh you can relegate one of them and be fine lol. Relegate City and it’s not like you’re missing any big names, you’ve got Pool Utd Arsenal and Chelsea which is more big clubs than any other league.

There’s an argument to be made that it may actually enhance the league. No joke here I’ve never seen a City fan in the UK or abroad. No ones arsed about them.

Imagine the scenes if there’s a 3 way title race between Arsenal, United and Liverpool though…

The Pl have a staple of clubs - man city is a blow in. Teams will pick up their players. Newcastle will return as a top team with a genuine fan base. A resurgent United and Liverpool and so on.

The PL aren't stupid if they boot City, City will join forces with Juve, Milan, Inter, Real and Barce in a super league and it will rival the PL and maybe supercede it

what fans would city bring to this super league? The idea of a super league died the moment we, Man U, Chelsea and Liverpool backed out. Those four alone would be bringing the bulk of the super league's fanbase. Real and Barca are the only other teams with a genuine global fanbase.

Arsenal muscled AC milan for Kiwior because they couldn’t come up with 25 million Euro cash. The Italians won’t join they would get destroyed

Barce are still talking about wanting the super league, Juve are in dire straights and Inter/Milan would make loads more money. It only fell apart because of PL clubs not wanting the bad PR

City are a side attraction to the major English clubs. Nobody is forming a super league with City as the sole English representative.

....
For anyone interested in the comparison with Rangers.

A Super League will generate loads more money than Serie A does so all the Serie A clubs would be richer
What teams? The super league is nonsense when all the big clubs wanted it they couldn’t get it. The draw for super league is to get pl level global TV money. No United, no Arsenal, no LFC no one cares about Super league if those 3 don’t show up

There are more Villa fans in NY than their are City fans despite their little MLS club playing at Yankee Stadium. They're a nothing club. Sp**s have more support.

English politicians would never accept a super league. The pressure on the politicians from fans would be immense. It is dead in the water.

That being said, City aren't going anywhere. I don't think there are enough clubs that would vote for it. You only need 6 clubs voting against an expulsion.
