The Wish List

No GK coming - 100%.....we have the numbers(not the quality).
NO DEF coming - 100%.....we have 2 RB's, 4 CB's(w/ Miquel), 2 LB's.
A CM is unlikely IMO.....at best a utility/squad player to beef up the numbers rather than improve the first team.
Still think we'll get a striker, though not the Suarez/Rooney calibre(lol).

I wonder how close my aim is?

but Holding’s hair transplant was painless
Given u on huge signings

In: Gustavo, Benteke

----------------------Ches----------------------
--Sagna------Mertesacker----Koscielny-----Monreal--
--------------Gustavo--------Arteta----------------
---------Theo---------Cazorla-----------Podolski--
----------------------Benteke---------------------

wouldn't win the league but not convinced that we are serious about doing so. Good solid teaam though.

That's a pretty depressing wish list, fabo.

More of a 'what I think will happen' list. I'd want a GK, CB, CM, ST.

But think we'll get a ST and an average CM, probably a youngster.

League is very weak
Ashley Williams now that Vermaelen is injured.

I know some of you don't rate him but I can't think of many realistic CB options that we're all going to agree on. Williams ticks enough boxes, price, age, league experience, potentially availability etc.

I'd honestly be pleased with 2 top signings right now. A quality CF and CM and I'd be happy. Gustavo and Suarez would make for a great summer. Even with those two signings we won't be near the title, not unless Wilshere Ramsey & Chamberlain step it up several levels. You take things one step at a time though, and 2 more key signings next summer will see us right up there in 2 years' time.

I'd be happy with that. I'd rather a CF and a CM than a CF and a CB. Someone would be a much better addition than say Williams. I'd be more willing for us to give Miquel his chance and if that fails Sagna played well there.

No doubt Vermaelen will probably have set backs as usual though and will take time to reach full fitness.

Antonio Valencia stan
Going to be difficult to find yourself a central defender, in a World Cup year, who is willing to chance his luck against Kosc, Verm and Mert.

I think our best bet will be signing a defensive midfielder who can also back up as a 4th choice central defender in case of an emergency.

If we look at signing a specialist center back to come in as cover, we are going to end up with another Squillaci/Silvestre type signing and I sure as hell don't want that.

Such players aren't really available though, are they? Someone with those skills will be too expensive for us if they're of decent quality. In the end we'll buy some reject from Ligue 1 at best or we'll get Song back.

It's hard to judge how Miquel could play as a 3rd choice but he looks to have pushed on. He was decent in 11/12 and looks to have matured as a player since then.

Miquel would be better than another Squillaci/Silvestre and if given a run of games could prove himself as an able 3rd/4th choice.

Replace Benteke with Suarez and that's a team to be excited about.

I still maintain that our CBs do not suit our ultra high line,
and that our midfield resources are incapable of playing anything by a high line to minimise their defensive requirement/exposure without the need to drag MORE bodies into midfield.
As such we will continue to struggle to find the right balance, and will continue to be our own worst enemy until we directly address the issue/s.

If we signed Gustavo and Suarez I think we'd have our best team since 2005.

40-45 for Suarez, 15-20 for Gustavo and we'd actually have a very strong team again that could compete with the best, albeit somewhat lacking in depth here and there.

At this point though I just wish for some legit updates on wtf we are doing in the market, it's all gone so quiet. Hopefully it's the calm before the storm but knowing us you never know.

Luis Suarez/Cesc Fabregas
Luiz gustavo

I honestly believe that one of either Suarez or Fabregas would be enough to take our attacking play to that next level, a level we severely lacked last year at times. In the big games, we weren't good enough, simple as that. Teams outclassed us, and as Arsenal fans, it was a very difficult season mostly because we truly knew we weren't good enough. But given the quality of Luis and Cesc, I think only one of these players would be needed. Giroud hit the net nearly 20 times last year, but with Cesc behind him I think he'd easily hit nearer 25, likewise with Suarez playing off him . Given that Fabregas and Suarez would also give you at least 20 goals each, we'd be pretty much set going forward.

Gustavo is a quality player, and if rumours in Germany are to be believed his a available at reason price too. He'd be that dynamic midfielder with been lacking, for a lot longer than after we sold Song. After we shell out mega bucks for some attacking talent, we could opt for Luiz at a reasonable 20m (guessing?). The rest of this supposed war chest could be put to use to add some more squad depth. Particularly at centre back, and maybe even a cheeky bid for a half decent keeper.

I'm being optimistic, but I still really worry like the rest of you that we could lose out on all of our top targets, but I have faith in the club. For now.
