Are there any clips up of the England U16 game? I wouldn't mind seeing some of our younger prospects in action.

Sorry Ricky, it was the victory shield, our Jack Jebb set up Andy Cole's son Devante with a nice one two before laying on a no look pass for the goal. We actually had four players on at one point, but this kid was mint.
Andy Cole named his son after a member of the R&B group Jodeci
Yeah, I figured it out a little later.

What sort of player is Jebb then? And how did our 4 Arsenal boys do?
It was under 16 football and the midfield was a bit congested, players didnt get too much time on the ball but you could see from the little touches, especially for the first goal, played a nice one two with Cole's boy (who looks like a player by the way) then played a no look pass from which Cole scored..the no look was a bit excessive by a nice piece of skill anyway. To be fair the only ones that really stood out where Jebb, Cole, a short boy from Newcastle and Akpom from Arsenal, he was really quick, tricky and direct.

On Siemann, he is 2 footed (!!, right foot shot 116 km/h, left foot shot 108 km/h), 1.86m (76 kgs), fast (10 meter in 1.64 sec, 50 meter in 7.08 sec) and very smart. That sounds great. The article (link below) from which I got this info also states, he is regarded as an OK player, not as an excellent player.

Here's a german piece on him and some clips of him playing:

Seen the England-N.Ireland game now, 4 Arsenal kids on show.

Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill - played left back. Archetypal Arsenal left back; fleet of foot, decent technique, good athleticism and stamina, similar frame to Clichy.

Isaac Hayden - played as a holding midfielder. Looked a good all-rounder - strong, quick, athletic, good height, good passer. Moved back to centreback for the last 15 minutes of the game.

Jack Jebb - played centre midfield. Great range of passing, impressive vision and intelligence, strong and stocky, never gives the ball away. Looked an Arsenal player. Made the first goal with a great "no look" pass played perfectly into the path of the running striker. Scored the second goal with a decent, well struck free-kick.

Chuba Akpom - played as a wide forward. Extremely quick and powerful, really explosive, showed some good skill, not the greatest vision, but very dangerous. Made the third goal with clever footwork, after a speedy run, and then a good low cross that was tapped in.

Man City's Devante Cole, son of Andy Cole, looked a good prospect too. Similar to his Dad in style, but he's 6'4" and very, very quick. As did Angus Gunn, who is the son of former Norwich 'keeper Bryan Gunn, looked a good goalkeeper in the making.

Good stuff Ricky. Jebb and Akpom sound really intresting, and people have been raving about Jebb and Lipman for some time now. Btw where did you see the game, did you download it from somewhere?

I'm sure you can get the game somewhere to download, but I saw it on a stream of Sky Sports, when they were showing the replay of the game.

Austin Lipman will play against Scotland next Wednesday, so will get a look at him next week. He's very highly rated. Might even be quicker than Theo Walcott too. Reached the semi-final of the 2010 National Schools' 100M sprint competition, and has a personal best of 11.01. I remember Theo saying his PB at 14 was 11.5 seconds.

League is very weak
Siemann will have fellow countryman Serge Gnarby to keep him company from next season, arrives in the summer I think, we picked him up from Stuttgart, very highly rated attacking midfielder.

Some info on Gnarby + a video of him in a MOTM performance for Germany where he scored the first and got a couple of assists... - http://younggunsblog.co.uk/2010/11/vide ... r-germany/

Looks a very exciting prospect.

Also you got this video where he's involved in many of Germany U16's best chances:

Next years U18 team will be very intresting, with players like Toral Harper, Gnabry, Siemann, Hayden, Jebb, Lipman, Akpom and Ormonde-Ottewill. Many of those will still be U16 players but I expekt them to play a lot of U18 football too.

Reserves: Wigan v Arsenal - Match Preview

When Liverpool midfielder Thomas Ince scored a fortunate 89th-minute equaliser at Underhill last week, Arsenal’s bid for the Reserve League title seemed to be over.

That was until Luke Freeman’s injury-time header gave Neil Banfield’s second string a crucial three points to re-assert themselves at the top of the table following a difficult run of five games without a win.

With nearest rivals West Ham losing at Blackburn on Monday, Tuesday’s trip to Wigan presents Arsenal with an opportunity to extend that four-point lead yet further in their penultimate away game of the season.

And Banfield admits the circumstances of last week’s win has given his players an added confidence to finish the campaign in style.

“They have had it tough in the last few weeks and to beat Liverpool will give them the confidence that they can win these big games and play well,” the manager told Arsenal.com. “It was a real confidence-booster for them.

“We always had belief and straight away the players were looking forward to the next game. The character has never been in doubt and the spirit has never been in doubt. They have always had the ability, I just think a few of them took a bit of time to find their feet.

“We go up to Wigan looking to continue the standard we have set ourselves. We will try and get as many points as we can, try to win every game and see what happens. If we do end up winning our group we will take it on from there.

“But the win for us this season is the development of Jack Wilshere along with the continued development of Kieran Gibbs and Wojciech Szczesny. Obviously we want to win the league but the success for us is the number of players coming through to the first-team squad.”

While Banfield may not see league success as the No 1 priority, he admits his players are keeping tabs on the standings.

“The lads have got an eye on it. You sense that they would like to win it, obviously it’s nice to win any competition.”

Last week’s matchwinner Freeman has since been rewarded with a contract extension that caps a fine few months for the forward who has been on a hot streak of late.

The former Gillingham man, who celebrated his 19th birthday a week ago, has found the net five times in his last seven outings; including a spectacular equaliser in the dying seconds at Chelsea, a late leveller against Wolves and last week’s double. His manager says the deal is no more than he deserves.

“He has made big strides this year, I think he’s growing up and the understanding in his game is really developing” said Banfield. “Luke has showed a lot of character and he is an extremely hard worker in everything he does.

“He went away to Yeovil which was different for him and he has come back, got his head down and worked extremely hard. I’ve been playing him in a different position and he is now really relishing it.”

Elsewhere, former Arsenal striker and free agent Jérémie Aliadière, who is currently training with Arsène Wenger’s squad while he looks for a club, is set to feature in the North-West.

0-0 only few mins in. Lehmann and Aliadière start. No Aneke.

Miquel getting sent off means he will miss next game at least less chance of him getting injured as he will on the bench for first team I expect. With it being 10 men means Wigan are likely to have more shots now and Lehmann will get tested more. So might help us in a way with Lehmann having to make more saves. Hopefully reserves win though.
