Akpom was impressive, his first goal was very good IMO. Eisfeld and Gnabry didn't have the best of games, they could have been involved more. With the likes Olsson, Toral, Bellerin etc missing Arsenal lacked creativity. But Yennaris and Hayden done well I thought.

The coaching changes with the academy and U21's have been confusing recently. Gatting is now the U21's coach, Carl Laraman is no the U18's coach previously the U16's coach. Burton is going to replace Brady it seems.
I dont see Arsenal making the decision on that so soon, Burton has been a fantastic coach I would like to see him continue there.

‏ @davidjaca Campbell impressive and not for first time Betis' best player. Played through middle and on the right.
Betis would have gone 5th with a win so they are good team and Campbell has started every game for them since November for them (mostly on the left)
Campbell should get a work permit next season and I think if he continues to start game for Betis then Wenger will bring him into the squad next season (most likely as Arshavin's replacement)

A must watch

Campbell played some 70 minutes on the left, only when the Betis manager subbed in another LW he was told to switch to the right flank. Apart from occasionally drifting into the middle he didn't play centrally, don't know what that twitter guy was watching.

He was impressive though, especially defensively, so impressive that it seems more and more likely that Betis will make use of their buy-out clause. Completely * decision to write a clause like that into the contract.

I've been watching Campbell since his Lorient days and hes always impressed me despite his time in France being fairly unsuccessful.

I will say though that hes played on the right almost every time I've seen him, although he was central alot tonight. Definately improved since last year though, what worried me was his work rate and fitness but he really seems to put the effort in for Betis. Despite them playing quite poor today he was still one of their most dangerous players and has been most games I've seen them.

If Betis end up signing him for 5-6 million we'll regret it, hes doing really well for a 20 year old in La Liga and I can still see him improving parts of his game in the next 2-3 years.

Agree with most in your post, he vastly improved his work rate, plus he's pretty versatile, impressing on both flanks. He definitely played the full first half plus some of the 2nd on the left today though. The penalty claim that I posted in the other thread earlier came because of one of his runs into the box from LW, plus Valladolid RB Rukavina (who was sent off later) was booked in the first half for a cynical foul on Campbell when he ran past him on the left flank.

I only caught the last 30 minutes of todays game, most of what I saw he was central but I have seen him play on the left previously. All I was saying was that the majority of his starts he used to play wide right and cut in, Lorient played him there during his time in France aswell.

Regardless I think he'll end up a striker in the future.

League is very weak
The release clause on Campbell must be there as Wenger doesn't fancy him right? Or am I missing something?

Its a 10m euro clause isn't it? that's a lot of money more than we got for Vela or asking for the likes of Bendtner/Denilson, I dont see Betis paying that but if we did allow Betis to have that clause in there then Wenger doesn't mind losing him for the right amount of money

Campbell, Aneke are the only ones having a good loan spell right now
Frimpong, Afobe have both being guaranteed game time which could help them secure a spot in the first team next season

Seems likely. Dumb decision to put a clause like that in there. If betis make the cl they'll surely keep Campbell

Still, if we make a 6-7m profit off a guy that never played or really even trained with us isn't bad business

Maybe he won't want to move to Betis full time. Arsenal are a bigger club. If Wenger really wanted him to stay and told Campbell he was part of the future I'm sure he'd turn them down and compete for a place in our squad.

Vela is **** hot in spain and campbell has scored what 2 goals and created one, not really fussed by him coming back at the expense of a real top quality player.

I'd rather we gave games to Gnabry or Eisfeld over this guy as they look to have more going for him and they have been here and are used to being in the country while joel knows nothing.

Anyone got better highlights of the U21's vs United? This is pretty poor and short but you can see Akpom's first goal which was pretty good and Gnabry crazy shot that causes the second. Their keeper seems pretty shoddy though.

Pretty sure it was Conor Henderson who took the crazy shot that caused the second goal.

i wonder what's stopping eisfeld from having a bit-part role like AOC last season. yes, doesn't have the giant transfer fee on his head or the physique, but he definitely has better touch and understanding of the combination play as well as execution. this kid could do some real damage in 15-20m against gassed defenders!
