Alexis Sanchez (Out)

Its especially hypocritical when according to GDM they agreed with Sanchez to pay him 13m net after tax.

People are pretending like united just came along and blew city out of the water by doubling their salary offer for the fun of it. The difference between £13m and £14m after tax is 20k a week.
Would be a good story if it were true.
He agreed a deal with us for £275k p/w.
You HONESTLY think we'd ruin everything at the club, after reducing everyone's basic salaries the last few years, with heavily incentivised deals,by signing a 29 year old on just about treble the amount KdB gets?

Behave yourself.

There's a reason City pulled out, same as we pulled out of the Pogba and van Dijk deals, when they became too expensive.

The only reason City pulled out from the Sanchez deal is because they currently sit top of the league and are miles better than anyone else.. They are having a season of their lifes. If for instance United were in city's position now sitting pretty top of the league you lot will be going out to get Sanchez and will definitely be bending over to him and his agent so don't give the bs about how city are finally changing their policy..

Who was the source for 275k? That Di Marzio quote was the day before uniteds interest he seems pretty solid idk. £275k is around the wage he would end up with after tax on 13m well about 260k. This source could have confused gross with net too.

But obviously this relies on the £14m net figure for united being true as well. Because United making an opening offer £250k higher than your apparent wage and almost double that of Pogba, just doesn't happen unless they desperately need to beat 13m net, they aren't exactly Everton that feels a bit excessive otherwise.

You guys started this crazy spending spree and high overpaid wages a few years back, now you honestly expect us to give you a pat on the back for reducing it and becoming more sensible?!

14 million a year for christ sake. Let's not forget that Bayern were interested in the summer but pulled out due to his demands, City have also pulled out too. But but it's all about the trophies.
Think it’s undeniably clear what his main priority was now.

Annoyed that he used us as an excuse, yes we’re underperforming and not competing for the titles but that’s not what it was really about was it Alexis?

Coutinho has not been very good for Pool this season and Alexis boasts good numbers despite not being great by his own standards
Oh Grandpa.

Statistically the only players with a better performance score than Coutinho this season have been Fekir, Messi and Neymar. I know you hate that kind of stuff but just take that into consideration as you read the rest of this.

We’ll go more traditional: he’s averaged a goal or assist in the league every 85 minutes, and every 50 minutes in the champions league.

We’ll go even more traditional, that’s 12 goals and 8 assists in 19 apps (including two off the bench) from a guy in identical circumstances to Sanchez but also had a late start to the season due to injury. That’s a player who gave his all to the club despite wanting away. That’s what Alexis should have done for us. I don’t care if he’s done well (and that’s pushing it) he’s played considerably below his standards and has been a c*nt to his teammates.

I hope you just weren’t aware of how good a season he was having because you’re a smart guy and if those numbers as well as actually watching him play don’t make you realise he’s having a very good season then I don’t know what will. I suppose it was your inbuilt Alexis defence mechanisms that made you say such a thing.

So if it doesn't happen in 24 hours it's off?
Well we can, just not with as many players as they do. Of course I won’t blame the club for failing to match a 500kpw offer though, that’s insane. Pogba is the highest paid player in the league at about 300k and Hazard is about to renew on about the same. We can afford that, reports say that’s what we want to offer to Özil.

Going forward we should take a leaf out of City’s book, KDB and Sterling’s new contracts are said to be around 300kpw and 250kpw respectively but heavily incentivised. Gives some motivation and most importantly nobody ‘breaks’ the wage structure.

Sane and Jesus are on less than £80k a week too ffs.

Like you say they offer their players a lower base salary but with huge incentives.
