Just to throw another name into the ring... Gelson Martins? He looks good in the individual match highlights I've seen, any Portugal/Liga Nos fans know much about him?

Weak sauce saying we had scouts watching Koulibaly & Insigne. I'd take that all day long. Insigne up there with Mahrez as the only established wingers we could get, plus he'd slot straight in at LW. Drop a cool 120m off at Secondigliano and get Ciro while we're at it.

The players define the system so currently due to our buys its either a 4231 or a 4 3 3. If we go for a 4 2 3 1 we need a Fabinho to go alongside any of our current misfielders. If we go 4 3 3 I'd say we need two midfielders. A specialist sitter and a box to box runner. Much like Liverpool we would have 3 hardworking midfielders and 3 lazy forwards. So where Liverpool play with a false 9 and.two goal scoring wingers, we would play with two creators and.a goal.scoring pacey 9.

------------------------------Auba
--------------------Mhiki-----------Özil
_________Lemar-------------------Golovin
-----------------------------Torreira
-Kolasinac---------------------------------Bellerin

------------------------Manolas---Diop

--------------------------------GK

So in effect you attack with both full backs but always have 3 in the centre of the pitch. The Christmas tree could suit us but heavily relies on Lemar.

going over the obvious first, ie what we need in order of priority IMO

1. DM
2. CB
3. GK
4. Winger

Now as with most things in this club we have no idea what our budget is. You would think we could go up to 200 mil given we have had a profit last summer and all the player sales, but this is Arsenal.

Having said that my semi-realistic dream would be

1. Fabinho - he is perfect for us, though he seems Manchester bound. Another less fancy but realistic option could be Danilo ( the one who plays for porto). Either way this is a position where we need someone to come in straight away, not a prospect. Sadly it is also the position i doubt we will cover

2. CB - we need someone entering into their prime. Always liked Koulibaly though i have noticed he can be prone to mustafi like rashness. Still would take him or more realistically Manolas. No prospect here either though.

3. GK - Oblak but i doubt the club could afford that. Butland should be considered

4. We need a young forward with goalscoring potential. Our starting forward line will all be reaching 30 soon. Özil and Mhki will only get you around 10 goals a season in the leauge max imo. No matter how good PEA maybe you need some support. I know very little about Malcom, and have heard the criticism of him being too prone to longshots. However, I do believe he has scored the most goals in Europe's top 5 leagues for a 20-year-old after Mbappe. Again Bailey is the dream but that ain't happening

I still get annoyed that we let Serge Gnabry go. Especially since the Ox fked off

he hasnt been as bad as people say but it ****s me to see Iwboi starting on the wings for Arsenal

If we don't get Fabinho, then we should go for Zakaria. Not quite as established yet, but he's one of those few talents in midfield who is a sure thing for the future. Similar style of play to Fabinho and is already being given the "Next Vieira" title.

He wouldn't resign, so there was nothing we could do but sell. It's going to hurt seeing him do well for Bayern in the near future.

I wonder how much of that had to do with Ox and Iwobi being ahead of him.

I do get your point though, it hard resist Bayern after you have spent the past few months with Pulis.

I just hope a similar scenario doesn't befall Nelson

If the Fabhino dream can't happen then as others have mentioned. Dendoncker is a smart choice. Despite his recent red he comes across as being very composed, great engine, strength, good technical ability and i would imagine he would be relatively cheap

What do people think is the solution for the RB problem? We can't carry on with just one designated RB, so we clearly need another one. But do you go and spend significant money on a high-calibre one when you already have Bellerin, do you go for a cheap back-up? Personally I'd like to see a homegrown prospect as back-up to Bellerin, but I don't know of any really and I don't know if our own Jordi Osei-Tutu is up to it.

I'd be happy with a cheap punt, I'm sure Mislintat could sort that out.

Going for a sensible and not knowing the budget, but knowing the club tries to spend as least as possible, I'd focus on the defence and get one or two CBs, a GK and a DM and try one opportunistic signing, as well as continuing the clear out.

Cazorla is done, he's out.
Holding needs a loan.
Welbeck out.
Cech and Ospina both out.

The opportunistic signing would be Meyer from Schalke. He's out of contract, can play CM and DM, and if need be, higher up the pitch, and with Cazorla's departure there would be place in the squad for him.

For the DM...I quite like Torreira. A lot of people like Fabinho, I've seen Zakaria mentioned. I'd prefer Torreira, he seems the perfect match. Fantastic defensive stats with great passing.

CB could be Manolas. There was reported interest, he's got a buy out clause, seems like a quality signing.

GK...Oblak would be the dream.

That'd be about 150m spent.

Then I'd go for a 4231 like this:

.................Auba
Wilshere...Özil...Mkhitaryan
......Torreira..Ramsey
Kola..........................Bellerin
........Manolas..Mustafi
.................Oblak

Martinez, Koscielny, AMN, Meyer, Xhaka, Iwobi, Lacazette on the bench

Could easily become a 433 with Özil drifting wide left and Wilshere coming in, which would be a decent option in defence, too, going for a 4141, if you need numbers in central midfield.
With Wilshere dropping back on the left, Mkhitaryan doing it on the right and Auba and Özil staying high, another option of defensive shape would be a 442/4411. I'd be quiet a fluid team. It's got passing ability, movement and technique, it's got a proper ball winner in central midfield and seems generally quite balanced.

Lb is much more of a problem. Bellerin is as reliable as it gets and AMN is very good back up.

I'd argue a new winger is too important to ignore. The top teams have quick, tricky wingers who chip in handsomely in the goalscoring department, and we no longer have that.
