Koscielny has been an Arsenal CB during a time in which our side has not had adequate defensive options.

He was one of the inadequate defensive options. He wasn't better than Vermaelen, just Vermaelen was injury prone and went through some really bad form in his second last season here when the Per/Laurent partnership happened.

If Vermaelen and Djourou had Mertesacker next to them they would've found form like Koscielny did. Regardless, none of these CB's were good enough and Arsène never had a good eye for Centrebacks anyway.
