Also, your owner sets the tone for the club.
Yeh the mentality filters down from the top. Some of it isnt even direct, if an owner has a certain way about him it will 100% end up effecting the side's mentality and drive.

There's been 0 pressure on the manager for years, not to mention us being extremely poor at selling players who arent good enough.

Cech played for a club with a winning culture. They were hiring the best players and winning trophies, this breeds a certain culture where anything less than a win is unacceptable. We are talking about people like Cole, Terry, Lampard, Drogba, Makelele, Mourinho etc, the elite of the elite.

We are not that level anymore, the standards are different. You have to build up to that. We had it when we were winning.

I accept that it takes time but i have seen worse squads like watford show superior mentality than what we showed tonight. To say we need the likes of cole terry and lampard to show some balls and determination is wrong i think. When watford went down to 10 men they outplayed us through their sheer pride and determination. This match meant everything to the fans and the club and we were pathetic. I think it stems from the manager. I honestly cannot see him ever shouting at a player, everything is too nice. No one is challenged. You remember stories about dressing room arguements from last season and stories about koscielny crying. We need a manager that absolutely ruins a player in the dressing room after a lack of effort so that the rest of the squad know it's not ok to be beaten. Emery is simply too nice.

It all started falling apart when we lost Cazorla to his injuries.
We went from playing the Arsenal way to becoming this disgusting confused mess. We havent played attractive football consistently since Santi first got injured, fact.

Players like Xhaka, Sanchez, Özil are not typical Arsenal style players, even given their talents. These signings made our play disjointed imo.

16 goals in 50 domestic apps since joining Chelsea. Auba has 40 in the same time. Missing Giroud hasn’t been our problem.

Our forwards getting hammered by everyone yet we conceeded 4 goals. Its comedy stuff how every week before a game our defence gets ripped to shreds by the media and pundits and then as soon as we lose its then the forwards fault.

Pointing out that Giroud scored a goal and two assists in a final against us isn't saying it is the forwards fault. it's simply saying our fans know a lot less about football than they think they do.

Yeah that 15/16 season we had a much better squad, but long injuries to Arteta, Rosicki Wilshere, Welbeck, Ramsey and Santi in partcular, knocked a massive hole in it. Not sure how we managed 2nd.

Good catch Sherlock. Point is you don’t have to be an amazing player to ruin our defence in an important game do you?

Hazard damaged us in a Euro final too, but see, unlike Giroud he does it week in week out.
People didn't spend a substantial part of their free time saying Hazard was useless. No point in not giving credit where credit is due but if it makes you feel better fine, we all need our escape valves today. The stats in the record will show what happened on the night.
