Good that he is going to be training with the first team but does anyone know whether thats just training to get him some experience or is he actually going to be on the 1st team or the academy roster?

How would we know? If he is good enough he will play I guess. If not he will go on loan?

Some of the early reports were that he will primarily be in the U-23s (which wouldn't preclude him from making the occasional first team appearance, especially in cup games). Layth Yousif wrote this the other day:

While Martinelli is not expected to immediately feature in the first team Emery could potentially include him in the club's first pre-season friendly at Boreham Wood against an Arsenal XI on July 8 at Meadow Park.

If Emery decides against taking the starlet on the club's US pre-season tour Martinelli could feature for Ken GIllards's U18 side against non-league Hitchin Town at Top Field on Saturday, July 27.

According to Brazilian G.E(Globo Esporte) Arsenal was following him since he was 12yo. Its enough time to make a decision.

Charles Watts wrote that Cagigao was the driving force behind this one. Even though he's been Arsenal's scout in Spain, he apparently has strong contacts in Brazil and has been keeping tabs on Martinelli for some time.
