Thing is, why would Palace want any of our second rate players as part of any deal? All of a sudden Chambers is a good prospect again?

Chambers would be good addition for most bottom half teams. And it's not PR from Arsenal he is our number 1 target

As regards not being sure about him, in a lifetime of supporting Palace he is in a select band of few who will get bums off seats as soon as he gets the ball. Magic doesn't always happen, but you cant beat it when it does.
Imagine "He's just too good for you" ringing out from the home end at Arsenal ....

I’m sure they’d love to get him back but I don’t think he’s open to moving back to Manchester. He seems pretty comfortable in London.
Also Souness seems to rate him highly

No he wouldn't, the team he played for last season went down EASILY. If you had a CB/CDM of genuine quality that wouldn't of happened, full stop.
We all moan about our deadwood players, why would they want the same issue? Its not like they’re trying to stay bottom half of the prem.

I guess his dad's roots are in Thornton Heath. Came here as a refugee and stayed. Family is very close.
If you were offered a high-flying job abroad (well Liverpool...) would you uproot your parents and family? Something I'm struggling with myself at the mo.

Exactly. He’s a decent player (overrated imo) but 80mil is mental, even in todays market. They hold all the cards here. Not going to happen.

@parishioner outside of discussions on whether a deal is possible or not, how do you think Zaha would actually fit here? How do you feel he has progressed in the past couple seasons?

Roy has added playing down the middle to his existing capability as a winger. Finishing is not yet clinical but he's getting there.
You wouldnt need him as a striker and he could revert to the wing, where he plays best. Laca and Auba would love playing with him and he might even revitalise Mesut by providing some much-needed energy and quick feet.
He also tracks back and supports a wing back (if you can find one at the back of the sofa).

Thats a very strange reply given I was replying to this comment of yours:

We're in the position we are in because his employees didn't do their job and he didn't do anything about it for years, in fact he tried to retain Gazidis. I don't understand how this is "doing it right"
Anyways, I rarely post. I prefer to read discussions so I'll just leave it there.

By all accounts the sell-on is 20%. We bought him back from MUFC for £3m rising to £5m. So a sale at £80m would net £15m for MUFC. No idea whether there is a cap. Seems academic as realistically £80m looks like the most which could be achieved this window with only one bidder.

I'm just making fun, in a market where Perez costs £30m i think we could get £20m+ for Chambers.
Also i don't want us to sign Zaha, i think the money could be better spent improving the defense and midfield. It doesn't matter how good the front 3 are if we're conceding 50+ a season.
