I read Grêmio only have 50% of player rights the other 50% owned by 3rd party so Grêmio may end up only getting 20M from this transfer.

Also, he's nickname is Cebolinha because of the hair, it reminds people of a Brazilian cartoon character of the name.

And miss the chance of having English commentators fumbling the name Cebolinha? I think not.
is the reports are correct? or brazilian media just using our name? even tho Globoesporte UOL are very respected and this Eduardo Gabardo seem very reliable reporter too.

Have about 10 tabs opened right now, will check the initial reports from Globo Esporte and the ones that followed from other publications to see if it's just circle-jerking/sourcing of if they've independently confirmed it.

Shouldn't take long.

Alright, so sources on this are Globo Esporte and Uol. The former originated the reports that Edu has talked with his agent and Uol has also confirmed our contacts.

The Radio Grenal stuff is according to one of their staff, but can't really say if it's legit or not.

From what I skimmed through their reports, they mentioned it in the Arsenal-Mania "as per" way. It's half a paragraph mentioning it and it's back to writing what Globo Esporte first reported.

That in it self for me - at least for now - should raise eyebrows as far as that specific report is concerned.

Now, onto the reports proper. Basically, Atletico Madrid are the only ones that were readying an actual offer of 35 million euro, with add ons making it 45m.

Before the Copa America, Gremio already valued him at 40 million euro, and after having fought his way into a starting spot and scoring three goals in the competetion (including one in the final) they want to make this the "deal of the history". They've also sold Arthur to Barça and another dude to Shaktar, plus having their finances in order means that they can sit back and wait for this to pick up even more.

Adding to that, Grêmio owns 50% of his rights, with his agent owning another 30%, Fortaleza Club 10% and an investor with the final 10%.

So you'd feel that all parties would welcome a bidding war.

Finally, from reading, I think the source confirming this is his agent.

My gut feeling is that we've enquired and are interested, but that the agent is trying to drum up hype to see if older suitors like Bayern and United come knocking.

@Rex Banner can tell us more if this Atleti interest is genuine or not, but it feels like this is reaching critical mass.

What do you make of the player himself saying he has an offer and might not play for them again? Do you think his agent is getting him to say it?

Interesting, but didn't Soares say he has an offer and he can't promise if he'll play against Bahia? as far A.Madrid there nothing from spanish media yet suggesting they pushing to sign him.

Think it's legit. But Grêmios president denied it very quickly and said the it's likely that the player might've been contact directly.

Sounds like personal terms for me.
